    Top Moments in VFRW History!

In my time on the forum anyway.

Well since winter is coming I’d been thinking back at some of the moments that have made VFRW the crazy but good forum it is, so here we go:

    10. Sebspeeds VF Rebuild

Most of us on this board are a bunch of retards when it comes to really wrenching on a bike. But sebspeeds VF rebuild has been an inspiration to many on this forum. One of the true technical threads that has helped us all limp along and dream “Man, if I only had the tools, talent, money and time”.

    9. All threads started by GoForARide (a.k.a birrddseedd)

Nobody quite does idiocy with commitment like GoFor does. Highly entertaining, yet scary in his implications with the deeper meanings behind his posts. I believe Harvard has dedicated a philosophy class on his ramblings. Is he a giant in metaphysics thinking or just some lonely young man looking for attention in Michigan? Only time will tell. But GorFor does get deep respect for driving (with his wife on the back) what squirrelman called “the ugliest VFR” he’s ever seen form Kalamazoo to Niagara Falls.

    8. drewls “Tiger, Tiger” thread

The philosophical adviser, post hooer and former chat hooer himself decided to give birth to this monstrosity because 1. He needs a bigger post count and 2. Well…to be honest I can’t explain what the hell he was thinking. But he created the most useless, intelligent, stupid, fun, ghey, thread that will surly haunt VFRW members, new and old, for years to come. When they get to the end of the thread, 8 days later, asking: “What the hell”?

    7. Jamie Daugherty

VFRW’s resident ‘older’ VFR guru. Jamie’s knowledge of the older VFR’s continues to amaze and in light of recent events his customer service is something corporate America should take a good hard look at and study. I’ve said it once I’ll say it again: “If I lived closer to Jamie D. I’d buy an 86 VFR and have HIM fix it for me”!

    6. SLO/ Reg71 BBQ’s/ Scubalongs B-Day party

The pictures in these threads only tell half the story. There is no doubt they’ve been an inspiration to those VFRW members who have watched, via live video feed, and those who have attended these parties in person filled with sin and debauchery. Please keep the pics and live feeds coming West Coast VFRW crew with the trail of broken bike parts, burnt rubber and vomit in tow! They’ve been an inspiration to us lazy East Coasters who just can’t seem to get together in the same numbers?

    5. elf800

“The Troll to End all Trolls” he was called. If you’ve been around here awhile you know him well…maybe too well. For those of you who don’t know the name he had many names like Satan. Nom de gurre’s like “emptyskull”, “deepdish” and some others I can’t remember. But there was no mistake when he had appeared. Emoticons and VFRW member’s feelings littered the battlefield. The BBUWWWAAA-ambulance was called daily! No other VFRW member could singlehandedly destroy a thread as quickly as elf800. Armed with “canub whiskey technology” he was almost unstoppable. Banned three times (or more) from VFRW he kept coming back like a zombie; even headshots didn’t seem to work. Like Judge Holden in “Blood Meridian” “he gathered [us] against his immense and terrible flesh” and violated us in horrific ways left in the realm of our deepest fears and imagination.

    4. The slick 50 thread

If elf800 left anything positive from his legacy it was the slick 50 thread. At that time he went by “emptyskull”. For about three weeks straight nobody could get a straight answer on any question. Slick 50 WAS the answer!

    Q:What is good brake fluid?
    A: Slick 50.

Q: I’m having problems with my RR, what’s the best replacement?
A: Soak you old RR in Slick 50

Q: What’s the best aftermarket exhaust?
A: Dump slick 50 down your stock exhaust and your bike will get 200hp.

Q: What beer do other VFRW members enjoy?
A: Any beer that has been mixed with slick 50 IS the best.

Q: What’s the cure for the common cold, AIDS and my wife won’t have sex with me?
    A: Slick 50, slick 50 and slick 50

We traced the history of slick50 during it R&D days too. From when it was slick 25 to slick 33 and a third, and when they finally settled on 50 itself . Also, let us not forget slick 50’s urban cousin and aspiring rapper slick fiddy!

The most epic moment in the slick 50 threads? Slick 50 vs._______! When Y2Kviffer laid down the challenge of slick50 vs. Chuck Norris we all knew that was too tough to call. A battle that would have had apocalyptic outcomes for the whole cosmos! I’m thankful that Saturday afternoon movie does not exist fellow VFRW brethren.

So if you are new to VFRW and somebody offers up the benefits of slick 50, you know why.

    3. Harley Hating Threads

Like Frankenstein, I created the ultimate monster that ended having to be destroyed by its owner. A year ago (or more) I posted up a thread titled “Who Hates Harley Davidson”? Little did I know I was the only one with penned up anger against the poseurs in that crowd. That thread turned out, at that time, to be the largest thread in VFRW history. It got so good the ‘Orange and Black’ cult members started to log onto VFRW and make comments and attack me, KC-10FE and others personally. It was a rare thing of beauty. But like all beautiful things in life, the beauty fades and the plug had to be pulled. I remember the day well; KC-10FE was taking on some HD turds and was up to his eyeballs in battle. By this time the mods were closely watching the thread and I knew one really good personal attack would shut it down. So I went for the throat and raised up my piece of art, my creation, and slammed it down…and within a few minutes the VFRW mods pulled the plug. Believe it or not folks, I understand why and hold no ill will. Besides, I consider it a blessing for a couple reasons. One, I the artist, helped destroy his creation, and Two, the threads have not stopped. In fact, others carry the torch and if you watch VFRW closely you’ll see the ‘hatin’ flare up here and there. And I’ll never forget all the PM’s from fellow VFRW members who offered support during that battle. Your allegiance will never be forgotten.

Rumor has it that there are underground copies of that thread in circulation. Bubba Zanetti has it on good authority Matt Stone and Trey Parker used it as basis for their recent South Park episode: “The F-word”. I’m waiting for Snopes to confirm this intel.

    2. The VFRW Owner and Mods

Hey, what can I say except ‘thanks’. This place is like a good bar that is filled with good people, jerks, no-it-alls and everything in between. They give us a lot of leeway and because of that I highly enjoy being a part of VFRW. I think this place is a good representation of what ‘motorcyclists’ truly are. We come from all walks of life. Our jobs vary greatly. Many of our political beliefs are polar opposites. But we all share the common belief the Honda VFR line up is one of the best bikes ever created. We celebrate that fact and our owner and mods celebrate it too. I consider it a blessing to have an internet forum we can come on, be ourselves and share our knowledge, and get very little flack for doing so and in it all they party, ride, laugh and cry with us. Pretty cool folks.

    1. The Foster RAD thread

Talk about rallying around a fellow VFRW member. That thread brings a smile on my face for sure. I hope that TOECUTTER gets his money back, then fixes that exhaust, puts it on the bike, then takes a picture with as many CA VFRW members in the pic as possible all giving the finger and send it to Foster RAD. I think that would chap the good Doctors ass pretty good. All the time he’s been in business and ripped people off, now someone got something for nothing and shove it right in his face!

SO, what are your top VFRW moments?

    Peace,

    BZ

Excellent summation Mister Zanetti. I've been here just over one year, and I find your comments to be right on the money. I, too, am very pleased to have this forum.:biggrin:

I totally agree with you about Jamie. He called me on my drive home and spent 20 minutes just explaining suspension to me. never pressured me to have him do work or anything, just naswered questions. By the time I got home I had an e-mail with more info in it and him thanking me for my interest. Needless to say I am having him rebuild my forks for me and he is saving me about 350 dollars over Racetech, who was going to charge 630 just for parts.

The Slick 50 thread, I got to say wasn't quite up there for me, I thought it was lame. But the rest of them are spot on. (I do wonder about GoForARide sometimes)

Some other threads that I think deserve recognition are below:

Where in the West are SLOVFR and Reg71 - never was I so entertained by a trip thread. This takes a different approach from the usual "I went on a trip and here are a gazillion pictures". This one was updated as the trip went on and some other members would update on behalf of SLOVFR and Reg71 seeing as they didn't have internet access.

Dear Randy - Who says cops don't have a sense of humor? I wish I thought of this thread, Randy has some hilarious responses. And this is a surprise because I wasn't expecting it to have so many responses so quickly. In the immortal words of Randy: Damned 100 posts in just over two days. What the fack did I do here

Dealing with the po-po - When I started this thread I was totally not expecting such an outlash on behalf of policemen and citizens alike. I mean, let's face it, we all have motorcycles that can hit 100 mph in seconds. You're not gonna tell me that you always follow the speed limit. :bs:

    Nice write-up, Bubba.

Sorry I missed some of those old threads. I should have been active here much earlier, but at least I'll catch the next epic threads - before they get yanked of course!

That's one of the best threads I've read on any forum. I'm too new to have been there for those (except for Foster and Gofer's deep thoughts with Jack Handy). That really does explain a lot about this place. I love how there is some leway and folks are alowed to hash things out like men instead of a thread getting closed at the first hint that someone might need a hug to repair their feelings.

Great write up...Let's not forgot any number of threads that appeared several times a year, since the creation of time, that had to do with the release of the oh so mysterious 7th gen VFR. Which usually turned into some kind of argument about the inner workings at Honda corperate or even just a good old fashioned bashing of the generation VFR that one didn't own. Guilty as charged your Honor.
