November 11 is fast approaching. At the 11th. hour, on the 11th. day of the 11th. month, take a few moments and remember those who are no longer with us. May God protect those serving our Countries abroad. In memory of my father, Bill Simpson (Royal Canadian Navy) and mother, Beryl Simpson (Canadian Womens's Army Corps), Veterans.
My uncle joined the Navy at 16 1/2 and my dad joined the U.S. Marines at 15. It is the gumption of them and many many like them to remember. I am not so sure how many people can honestly think and imagine what it must have been like to be 15,16,17,18 and landing on a beach where machine guns poured lead down on you and your friends..... It is one of the better holidays Now we can remember the young men and women serving all over the world. Next time you are asked to stand for the national anthem, think about the reason why you are able to be in that place at that time and enjoy your freedom. There is some 18 year old kid standing post in some foreign country or aboard a ship projecting strength that allows us these freedoms. I know... Soap box .. but it is mine.. and my opinion and you are FREE to disagree.

Well 10 keep your head down and cover your 6. I'd like everyone to consider the folks that were guned down here in Ft. Hood casualties of the war also. It never fails to amaze me how far a feable can be led astray. I'd also like to remember some brothers in arms that went down in the first Gulf War: the crew of spirit 03 were hit by a sam site in 1991 may rest in pease with the GHOST RIDERS of the past.

As a veteran of 20 years active duty in the Navy, I have a deep and abiding respect for all who have served and all who are serving now. KC10, I wish you godspeed and thank you for what you do. You will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Come back safe brother.

KC, be careful my friend, and stay frosty. I hope to enjoy the free Applebee's dinner with my daughter here in the Quantico area on the 11th... Unfortunately I will not see my son until Christmas, but at least he's back in the states after round 2 for him. May all my brothers and sisters in arms return home to their family and loved ones, safe and sound.

It's the Military, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the Press. It's the Military, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of Speech. It's the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. It's the Military who salutes The flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by The flag. If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for The Military, please pass this on and pray for our men and women who have Served and are currently serving our country and pray for those who Have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
I never served in the forces and sometimes (like today or when I see a soldier in public) I feel as though I have not lived up to my obligations to my fellow Americans. I will never be able to find the words to thank all of the service men and women for their sacrifices for me and my family. My father and all of his brothers did serve and now in my regrets I wished I had too. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES. I had posted this thought on my facebook profile: It's my firm conviction that when Uncle Sam calls, by God They, The finest American Airman, Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines, go and do more than many of us have ever been asked and/or have ever had the bravery to face. They are the Best Men and Women put forth unto God’s green Earth.. And may they be forever blessed and know of our unending gratitude... But I suppose it's also important to remember those many Canadian folks serving in Afganistan with our soldiers and Marines.. And while I'm at it let's remember those from the Royal Armed Forces acccross the pond and out Austrailian friends as well... Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen
A thought also to the 42 Navy men slaughtered and the many injured on board the U.S.S. Liberty in 1967 in a deliberate attack by the Israeli Air Force--in aircraft supplied by the US--in an incident swept under the rug by the U.S. Defense Department. END U.S. AID TO ISRAEL.....until a 2-state solution is achieved, so we can PREVENT another war in that area! The Jewish neo-cons in Bush's administration and Israeli lobbiests were responsible for dragging us into the war in Iraq. ( Grandfather served in France in WWI, father killed in action WWII)

As a vet of 6 yrs USCG, thank you and god speed to all vets past and present. Although presented by the film as an example of overreaching by the military, this speech contains so many elements of truth that it remains one of very favorite when trying to explain to others what it means to be in your countries service. Hundreds of thousands have died fighting for the right of people to say and do less than appropriate things, at inappropriate times. Squirrel's comments would get me going on another day, but not today. For this is what they fought and died for in part. And for that, I am most greatful. In 35 minutes this day will come to a close. Most will put the memory of those who sacrificed so much for us to rest. But rest assured, I will always remember. And next year at this same time, I promise to remind you again.
Eloquent as usual Randy.... Like you, my memory stays with me year round. 24 hours a day sometimes. I am a living memorial to my brothers ad sisters who have died in the past, in the present and in the future. may we never forget.
