    ticket 1. 1-10 over
    ticket 2. no regitration papers

problem. i was riding my 95. the insurance papers were for my old gen2. the ticket was writen for my gen2. i must have mixed the two up, so i in fact was not carrying the insurance papers for the vehicle i was driving, tho it does have insurance.

he wrote the ticket for my gen2. even tho i was riding my gen3.

    so now what?

If you have a good record and the time, go to court.

Take your documents, communicate your story clearly and perhaps acknowledge the speeding but indicate that you have insurance on both of your bikes and have since mm/yy but just mixed up the papers.

I bet if you do this right, the judge will knock down the fine.

What is of paramount importance is to have your stuff straight and your story straight and be able to communicate clearly.

All that being said, I could be full of it as I've never had to do this before.

Not sure about what state you are in, but I believe most states will allow you to present registration and insurance papers to the clerk of court and have the ticket removed. In most cases, I don't believe those tickets (paperwork) count as a moving violation and shouldn't affect your insurance. They are mearly a way for the state/county/city to fleece money from folks. If he really had a reason to believe the bike was stolen, he wouldn't have let you leave, instead of giving a ticket for papers.

Think about it; why do you have to carry a registration paper, when in the computer age, they can run your plate and find if you've paid your annual registration and who it's registered to.

What a joke, it just pisses me off the more I think of it.

    Youv got it right there.

Thing is that I did not eat breakfast or lunch today so my wife could eat. I dont have 170 for tickets.

all i can do i guess is take my paperwork and hope the other cop doesent show up.

btw, the local college here makes almost as much money giving out parking tickets as they do in tuition.

What has already been said.... Get all your paper work together.... go to court... you will be seeing the DA 1st... if not, asked to speak to them.... tell your story...Back it up with the paper work..... give them a reason why you were speeding, anything will do...OTHER THAN, I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS GOING THAT FAST(That's saying you're not paying attention). They'll drop some points if you have a clean record.

Also don't use the speedo was off... that doesn't work.... even if it is.....

iv gotten different results with different radars and even different via gps.

but thanks for the advice, ill definatly try to talk to the da.

Well, in Jackson County... a mere 60 miles away not even here's the deal.

"No Proof of Registration (produce evidence of a valid registration
at the time the offense occurred within 10 days - F&C suspended) 223(citation #), $95 Fee, 0 points"

The key here is you must have had the vehicle registered PREVIOUS to the date of the offense. You made it sound like you needed to register it before you went to court...that won't work. If it was already registered, then no problem. Take the correct registration and proof of insurance to court and all that crap will be knocked off.

Website with fees/costs for court fines for Jackson County (MI)
12th District Court - Jackson, County, MI

The speeding ticket though...you're on your own. If you don't have any previous tickets on your record, dress appropriately, speak intelligently and politely, and arrive early, you should be able to get it removed from your record and getaway with just paying the fine and no points on your record. Worst case you're stuck with the full penalty lol...but they may even knock it down to 1-5mph over. But first offense...hell most will let you get it knocked off for showing up and being polite and respectful. There is a possibility of having to go to a "class" to get the points knocked off. Did that before. Lame 4-hours in a Holiday Inn conference room listening to some guy preach about Jesus and defensive driving.

I'm obviously talking from my exuberant court experience in my younger years(Do I have younger years yet? lol). Apparently old red Ford trucks attract pigs like flies on shit. Or maybe living within 3 miles of lame township police, state police, county sheriff, and city police headquarters. Overkill much?

Anyone ever been pulled over by the same cop twice(township even!!! ARGH!)? Within two years? Each for minor speed violations. And one not even a block from my house in a neighborhood. Give me a break.

years ago when I was running a traffic enforcement unit, I had a guy pull up to me and ask meif I would clock him because he just got new tires and he wanted to know how far off his speedometer was...I looked at his tires and they werent much bigger than stock so I told him he was probably off by a few miles an hour.. Since it was early Saturday morning I decided to do it. Anyway, he cruises back down the road we were sitting on , which is a 45 MPH zone, and as he is coming back toward me I look at the radar, it hits 35-45-55-65-68 is were it stopped at before he slowed down to pull in where I was sitting. As the radar hit 68 I locked it and had it flashing on the dash when he walked up. he asked me what his speed was and told me that he had driven 35 -45-55-65....I said yep. then proceeded to ask him for his license registration...blah blah blah...he took it to court..do you know what his defense was? he told the judge that WE were testing his speedometer and therfore was immune to getting a ticket... Well long story he was ordered to pay the fine and not try to make excuses just because I agreed to clock him didn't give him free reign to break the speed limit.. there was a reason I just typed this.. ohh yeah, police officers aren't there to help you check your equipement if you have doubts drive through a spot that has a radar sign and check there or get a decent GPS system that will give you live readings...

and people do things like put the plate from vehicle A on vehicle B and drive it
because the computers don't always work....people input the wrong data.. you complain about YOUR registration fees....I just payed 150 bucks to register a 24 year old motorcycle then payed another 300 to register my truck.......

Not every municipality is in the computer age my friend. Last November I was up in the "thumb" of Michigan(Bad Axe - Ubly area if you're wondering - total BFE) was a passenger in a vehicle and my buddy ended up having a suspended license for not paying some fee(how should I know he's stationed in either Oklahoma or Iraq normally and only see him once a year at best) But anyway, everything was done over the radio to check his records with the station. It's not just a few keyboard clicks in the cruiser and done and not all records are shared or available with such reciprocity.

The advice on the tickets was pretty solid. I have a question though, and am trying not to sound cold but...."Thing is that I did not eat breakfast or lunch today so my wife could eat. I dont have 170 for tickets.".... If you had to skip breakfast and lunch so your wife could eat, 1. Why were you speeding in the first place? - Odds are it will cost you money in fines or at least extra gas purchases & 2. You own 2 motorcycles and are skipping meals so your wife can eat? In that situation you should own NO motorcycles (It snows in Michigan too long each year for a bike to be your only transport) and feed yourselves first. The money saved from registrations and insurance premiums plus the money retrieved from selling them can make a big difference in eating ability. I too have been in real financial straits (not even enough money to afford a telephone at home - 600 square feet for 2 adults and 2 kids) and everything that was not essential to staying alive was sold or simply not done. I feel for you now having to face fines and court when you cannot afford to eat, but jeeze, provide for yourself and wife first and then get toys again when the money returns. Good luck on the tickets.

Make sure your papers are in order and take them to Court.

If the Court still finds against you then it is justifiable for you to sic your 'spider posse' (that lives in your dash) upon those rresponsible just like 'Willard' or 'Ben', but with spiders:thumbsup:

I don't have anything to offer, but it sounds like funds are tight right now. In the event that it doesn't go favorable and you have some fees/fines to pay, I think just about any court system will let you make payments. But be prepared to have to pay "something" on the day you go to court. Even if you win everything, I suspect they will still hit you for "court processing costs" or similar. In Jersey, the court costs are usually about $30-$35.

    Good luck, Gofor.

I used this site info to fight a ticket I got from a bogus speed trap. I won and the case was dismissed.

How To Fight A Speeding Ticket

If he wrote a ticket for the wrong bike, then you just may have a very good out. Good luck.
