Can someone post pics of the plastics installed? I want to buy a VFR that needs new plastics. Can't wait to get one.
    Thanks

Here's pics of my bike with the ebay plastics from Hong Kong. $530 shipped and then I paid a friend $300 for my tank (pearl orange) and seat cowl (black) to be painted.

What makes you say the quality is better?
I bought an unpainted set from nicecyle...Haven't painted them yet, but just pulling them out of the box they actually seem a little more durable than the stock pieces.

I paid a little under $700 and it came with more than the 4 pieces that airtech sells(all the plastic on the bike)...*shrug*
oh and all my holes are already drilled...I don't have to make them myself as you do with the airtech stuff.

What exactly do you mean by "more durable"...like what makes them more durable in your opinion? One thing you have to watch out for is that if the plastic is too stiff, it can mean that it's too brittle as well making it prone to cracking under stress and in colder temperatures. IMO that would be why some OEM plastics are manufactured using some fairly flexible plastics simply for the forgiving characteristics.

That makes sense. They don't seem as flexible as the stock stuff, which may or may not prove to be a problem. I don't know how to really explain it...lol
It just doesn't feel like cheap plastic.

Geeez...I'm waiting for set from Nice Cycle to arrive for my 5th Gen. I should have read this thread first. I'm crossing my fingers.

I'll most certainly chime in with my opinion of them.

when i put my set from Nice Cycle on my bike, 5th gen, everything lined up pretty good and all i did was make some of the holes a little bigger for the different bolts. they are stiffer but i haven't had any problem yet with them. living in the south might help though.

that is one of the key factors in keeping you plastic in one piece.

I have yet to receive the stuff...BUT...my bike had been painted by the previous owner and I have no idea how closely the Honda red was matched. I know I'm rolling the dice where that's concerned. I have a large tank bag on all the time anyway.... = )

See post 64. I haven't had any problems with my cheapo Hong Kong plastics. Paint seems to be holding up fine and nothing is cracking.

I received mine last week. The paint and finish were ok. I didn't concern myself with it matching my tank as it had been painted by the previous owner of the bike and who knows how closely the paint was matched to begin with.

I want to say you get what you pay for but I already believe OEM stuff is over priced. That being said:

The upper cowl is missing all sorts of tabs that the OEM has. I hope everything locks into place ok. There is also no treaded brass inserts for the bolt locations. I'm not sure if these were omitted purposely or not.

The windscreen is completely useless as it lacks the tabs that lock into the upper cowling.

I had asked that the kit not have any kind of logo on it but it arrived with a knock-off VFR logo situated where it would be on a 6th Gen. Unfortunately it was also clear coated over. They are sending me replacement pieces.

I can't say enough about their communication and customer support.

If anyone knows where I can get those little treaded brass inserts....let me know!

Thought I'd bring this thread back life since I'm in need of some fairings. Just wanting to point out a guy on my cbr forum bought a kit from 777-moto and his fairings had the brass inserts.

I just wish I could find inserts that would work for me. Other than that, the paint and finish on the Nice Cycle stuff is pretty good.

Not sure about canada but usually in big enough city, you should have a Nut & Bolt store. Anything to do with those two things, they should have it. I know our lowes & homedepot have a type of these but not sure on the thread counts. I'd have to go see.

I emailed seller yes2yeah to see if theirs had the brass inserts. If you google "brass threaded inserts" or "threaded inserts for plastic" a few websites pop up.

I was just looking at the big picture...I don't actually "need" inserts for everything. For example, the headlight assembly attaches to the upper cowling with screws. I'm sure there are other locations that use screws as well as I am certain I'll fin a location or 2 that use a bolt.

I have 3 Nice Cycle upper cowls and 3 sets of Nice Cycle L&R lowers so I will put a set on in the coming weeks and see how it goes. At least I'll be able to get riding right away and have a set to experiment with. I have seen the websites but some of them sell quantities that I don't need. The one thing I like about this forum is that usually anything I want to do someone has blazed the trail already!

    Thanks for your reply

Well I also emailed yes2yeah so see if he'd combine shipping on two kits. I'd like a red and xerox kit. I have a feeling he's going to say no as these guys are most likely just sales reps. I've looked at multiple bike kits and it seems like the 5th gen vfr is the red headed step child. For the same price for most other kits you get less. No seat cover, tank cover, or windshield (read the "free" one doesnt fit well).

Heck, they have ducati 1098 and the new cbr 1000 kits out already. The new cbr 1000 kits have 19 pieces I believe and its the same price.
