If my brake pedal wasn't pointed straight in the air, I would have continued the class. I had to ride home with my right foot hanging out into space since I couldn't keep it on the peg.

All I can say is the HVMP bar ends act like a frame slider. Since they are much larger than normal Honda bar ends, they took the brunt of the damage. So, I no longer have a signature bar ends. It was ground down pretty bad so I had to sand it down & repaint it.

Changing the clutch cover is a total pain in the ass. The manual states to remove the ignition connector. It's under the freaking gas tank. I chose not to do this. I simply held it up in the air while I pulled the ignition trigger bolted to the inside of the cover. When I pounded the cover off with a rubber mallet, a large gear & shaft fell out into my drip pan. Quite literally, there is nothing that holds this gear in other than the cover itself. It was a pretty tense moment until I got out my parts fiche & figured out where it went.

    KC-10 FE out...

I will say the funniest one I ever saw was at Cordove Raceway (1/4 mile track) - guy I used to ride with on his F2 vs. local motorcycle shop owner on my F3. Guy on F2 was nervous, so he had it about red-lined. He jumped, clutch slipped, whatever. Bike went looking at the moon, he fell off the back onto his knees, broke the rear sub frame, still going fwd. Guy on my bike saw the bike start coming toward him, so he left, STILL RED LIGHTED, other bike went toward the middle, (he was in the left lane) hit the advertisement sign with the right side of bike, bounced off that, then landed on the track on the left side, cracking the case. And the owner was just kneeling on the track, watching it all happen....
He then got up, and like gearhead, was so pissed off that he slammed his lid down, and it bounced back up at least waist height. Trashed his lid & bike. Me & the guy that was on my bike had to ride about 45 min to get his truck.

Man. Sorry to hear about the crash, but glad you were OK and that the bike could be repaired.

But the student/rider above. OMG. The way you said it above is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

yet another story of a laydown expert

Guy I used to ride with, we'll just call him Dumpin Dave, for a good reason.

    Here are his laydows:
turning into a Hardee's parking lot. Right turn in, swing back left, crash. On new blacktop.

Riding down a one way in, was riding someone else's bike - because his was getting fixed. Was following owner of bike (GSXR750) on his other bike ('Busa) and went to loking at passenger of car. Owner of bike slowed down on his busa, and Dave was not paying attention. Hit front brake hard and tried to swerve. Dumped bike. 750 rolled over him, hit other bike (Busa) - yes the owner of both bikes. He got tire burns on love handle area from busa.

Illegal racing on Buell in the middle of nowhere, took off too hard, bike handlebars & upper cowl got seperated by guard rail. Still haven't figured that one out.

Picked up bike from dealership, went for a ride, way back stopped by so they could check tighten bolts. Driving back around front, front hit sand/gravel, went down.

I think in one riding season he went down ~9 times. Pretty much every time he paid for the repairs out of pocket so his insurance rates wouldn't go up or so he wouldn't be dropped. He was definatley a supported of ATGATT. It would be one of those hot, (90+ degress, high humidity) midwestern summer nights and he would be in leathers, boots, high gloves, helmet.

luckily, I think he's given up riding. He still owns the Buell, but it is in pieces.

Once. Cage decided he needed my lane on a sharp left turn. I dove off the side of the road and low sided it.
