I'm trying to purchase protective gear as soon as I can afford it, and pants are next. I came across these pants today on kneedraggers.com:
    Yoshimura S1 Pants
I'm seeing a sale price at $201, which is 60 less than the cheapest I could see on other sites. I was looking at other pants around the 200 range. What do you guys think?

If I get them, I'll post a review.
Thats tbd. I decided I'd give them a try, but encountered issues with ordering kneedraggers.com. If other sites were offering it at the same price I would buy somewhere else. I've sent them a message about the issue, and if they respond quickly with a resolution, I'll get these pants. Otherwise I'll find an alternative.

Could just be me, but I tried completing the order unsuccessfully using three different web browsers (Firefox, Chromium, and Opera). I could try with Internet Explorer tomorrow when I have access to a windows machine, but this is frustrating. Reminds me of problems I had with another site I had to order parts for another bike I own...would only work with Internet Explorer.

    Update:
I will not be getting these after all. Customer service responded by email on thursday afternoon telling me to order by telephone, but I was tied up that afternoon and didn't get a chance to call before the end of their business day. I called Friday morning, and by then they were sold out of all sizes except for 30 and 40. They sold out fast! Maybe someone here was able to grab the deal? Anyway, I'll look for another deal on pants.

Yea all that +300 stuff is beyond my budget; I'm in grad school. But my bikes are my only transportation, so I'm trying to buy decent gear. I hope the price means some quality. Couldn't find much out there on yoshimura pants, only a couple of positive reviews.

One of the pluses I see is that it has a full circumference zipper for a jacket, so when I can afford a better jacket, the connection won't seem flimsy. Maybe I can later find a track in the spring that accepts a zippered two-piece and learn more skill and have some fun.

If I had a spare C-note and a smaller gut I'd be all over this. Fantastic deal! Thought about getting them anyway as an incentive to lose some weight, but that's never ever worked before, so who am I kidding?

A bit premature for a real review, but I got them today. Pretty cool it shipped from OR to MA in 2 days. Even though it was a holiday, I was able to talk with the people in the shipping department to let me find my package out of the ones UPS delivered this morning (they get about 500 a day). Lady there remembered seeing my package since her father still rides a harley at 80yo.

So... despite being only $100, they seem great. There is hard armor at the knee and shin, and padding at the tailbone and I'll have to look again for the other places with soft padding. The construction seems pretty heavy and solid. Theres a full circumference zipper you can see in the pics as well as one of those short 8" zippers with the piece to tailor onto a jacket. The knee sliders are attached with velcro as shown, but I don't know enough to comment on that.
As someone mentioned, the thighs are perforated, but I don't see that having too much of a cooling effect through the layers of construction.
As for fit, I think it fits good for me; I ordered a 32. There are zippers along the calf and little velcro tabs at the bottom to keep them tight. I don't know what the little loops at the end of the legs are for.
For now the bottom line is the $100 were worth the protection from road rash and the knee/shin armor.

If anyone ordered a pair of these, would love to hear comments. Especially how they seem compared to other pants you've owned.
