I did a little 50 mile jaunt today on my new "07" and it turned over 700 miles. I decieded to try my 1st wheelie on a VFR. Tached to 5000 and let off for the little bounce and reved quickly with a little pull on the bars but not much happened. I thought "man this thing is not nearly as good as my 919"," the low end power is not close". Sooo.. I did the same thing again...except this time i give "it' a lot more and it comes Way:eek:HIGH. Allright this is more like it! This bike really does it all! Can't try too try it again.

    Calamari, anyone?

J/K man. To each his own. Wheelies are not on my menu, but glad you're enjoying your bike!

Wheelies, besides being juvenile exhibitionistic behavior that does not belong on the street and making motorcycle riders look like nutters, are hell on fork seals & steering brearings. Get ready to pay.

Since you put it that way, I'm going to start doing more wheelies!!!!!!

My bike(s) get at least a couple of wheelies done on them every single day, week after week, year after year. I've been doing wheelies on my 1998 VTR1000F since it was new. To date I've yet to replace forks seals on anything (that does a wheelie, anyway).

jesus criminy back off the dude.. so he had a little fun...did he say he finally gotr to ride a wheelie halfway down the parkway...no he said he got it to wheelie.. besides its his bike he wants to break it oh...well....

You being a mechanic squirrel should mind when people break things... its job security...

iLOVEHEROS.... you rock on with your bad self....I would kindly advise that you refrain from riding wheelies in traffic and only perform these reckless stunts in an empty parking lot or at an approved stunting course.

all I'll say is be smart and be safe..

A wheelie a day keeps the squirrelman away?

If we weren't immature and juvenile we'd all be driving minivans instead of riding motorcycles.

In an effort of total disclosure, I own two minivans. But I have a 5:1 ratio of motorcycles to minivans, so I think it's ok. At least that's what I tell myself.

I can do wheelies, but i really dont think i know properly how to.

I end up not getting the front wheel up, or it goes up too hard and comes town real hard. my mirror shattered once after coming down.

    SQUIDSVILLE ??

It happens every season in every town:

walk into your local cycle dealers about 3 or 4 weeks after the summer starts and you see all these brand new wrecked sportbikes out back waiting for insurance and repair estimates that were just put on the road by 20-somethings with the very noticable signs of botched WWWWWWheelee.eeeee.eeesssssss. Usually first bike.

And they show up all summer long. Scuffs on the taillight, end of muffler, and on top of the tank are sure signs.

That's "Wheelie World" as i see it repeated yearly at my nearest Yamaha dealer.

I don't know how to factor in the additional RISK of riding on only one wheel, which must be considerable, but it violates several elements of Safe Riding as well as Common Sense and reduces chances for a safe return from your mission.

And the cops LOVE nailing Wheelymen.

So just carry on, lads........at your risk.

    Wheelies are always fine.............

on a moto GP track & paid to do it,

    .......you're NOT him...

but Main St ain't like that, dudes,
and neither is the street in fronta yo'alls grlfrienz pad.
and will you do your wheelies out on abandanded farm roads
    or on interstates
    or on access roads
or in front of a school cuz that's what mosta the KIDZ WANT !!
    a Dairy Queen,
or in front of H00000TAZZZZZZ ??

    ...00....^^....**....<<...>>...CC..DD....

    All of them ??

i would agree with squirrelman in theory, i have had my front forks and bearings off once this year already because in my quest for a half mile standup i came down so hard so many times it beat the bushings and seals to hell. i watched a buddy with maybe 3 months of experience wheelie over backwards on a ninja 1400, in a t-shirt, so i know a lot better. i would like to say i am a reformed charcter, but i will say every ride i first gear pull it up on the take off just to feel the balance point again. if you set it down softly before you run out of throttle, its not to bad, and dont do it in traffic, it leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths for sportbikes.

but cut the dude a break, a little power wheelie for the first time is fun!

I find it hard not to pick the front up. If I don't my joy rides are not complete. The key is clutch control.

Most I've done (so far) is pop the front wheel up briefly. I'm working my way up to doing an actual for real wheelie. Just kind of a wuss getting there.

Time the throttle roll on with the VTEC engagement and there is no need to lift the bars. The VFR will wheelie all on its own if done right. I too do not make a habit of it. Used to, and even did one with an old Interstate model, which was a real treat for those who saw it. Now I tend to ride like the more mature person I have become as I approach my mortality at ever increasing rates......Actually it is because I do not heal up as fast as I used to.

    Power Wheelies....

I agree with Motorhead. I am hardly a "stunter" or anyone like that (not that there is anything wrong with it...) But if I dig real deep in 1st, 7500+, the power wheelie comes pretty easily. I never pull up and so I have never had a hard impact on the upshift
