Tinki: the brass tubes u mention are part of the enrichener (choke) system, and floats should always be set to factory settings, not adjusted for altitude; that's done only with jetting changes.

congrats! Too cold around here today so I think I'll camp on the couch watching football and NASCAR.

I will say that that I've installed the full front fairing, I get a lot more heat on my legs during these chilly fall days.

    Hope you enjoy your ride!

Good to hear your baby is running better! Now, park your two new little ones on it for a picture!
We'll have to get together soon for a ride. I did a Western North GA ride today up through Elijay and Fort Mountain for some twisties. Wasn't too bad, mid-50's to mid-60s all afternoon.
    Talk to you soon Matt!

Joey, powdercoat those wheels! White rules!

No, he has crabs. The 'sync' part is referring to the fact that his wife has them now too.

    I was thinking....

It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes
    You're paralyzed

    It's MATT!!!!!

    a theory

I finally came up with theory on what might have caused my flooding issue. I had that complicated California emissions and mess of vacuum lines on my bike. The theory is that either one of the vacuum valves wasn't operating properly or was connected improperly causing fuel to be sucked up thru the float bowl vents and collecting in the vacuum lines. Then once the bike was shut off, the fuel would drain back thu the low vacuum ports in the carbs and pool above the valves or down in the cylinder.

Can't prove it but it's the best and most plausible idea I've come up with. There was nothing wrong with my needle/seat valves, float boyancy/setting, besides the fact I said I ran the carbs out of gas and shut the fuel off. So raw fuel had to be stored somewhere.

I pulled that vacuum emision crap off last week and it seems to be running with more power in wide open throttle. The emission schematic on the inside of the body cover sucks and so does my Clymer manual so I can't be sure if it was connected wrong or broken.

Regardless - how's your bike been running Matt? I wish I could get someone with VF500 experiance to ride mine and give me their opinion.

You're going to hate to hear this, but my suggestion would be to put the CA emissions stuff back on. Everyone that has tried this has created a bunch of problems, and it appears like you are no different. The only way folks have been successful is to get a set of a 49 state carbs. There really isn't much to be gained by going through all of this work either. Considering that you've been having issues I'd put it back on and start from there.

    Hmmmm.

What happened to the carb adjustment springs that Jamie sent you at the last moment? What did you do with the springs? Where did they go? I don't understand how your carbs were rebuilt, set up and sent back to you without the springs being installed? How is it that Jamie sent you the springs after the fact of the carburetors being sent back? I assume that the carbs were sent back to you assembled on the plenum. Or were the carbs sent back to you and you had to assemble them on the plenum?
