    I Apologize in Advance...

But I'm callin' Bullshit on this one, Buttonhook... Dogs are a product of their environment. how do I know? why, firsthand experience. I owned a German shepherd/ Wolf Hybrid for most of my life (dog was 19 when she was finally put down by arthritis, and I'm 22 now)... Common sense would dictate that this mix would be highly dangerous and prone to violence, but in 19 years the only time that dog EVER bit anyone was one occassion when a man stuck a gun in my mom's car window. Dog bit the guy's hand, he dropped the gun in my mother's lap.

Point is, animals are responsive to stimuli, as well as lack thereof. Dogs especially are receptive to the treatment of their owners. For example, Rottweilers can be great babysitters, as many Rott owners will attest. Pitbulls as well can be very sweet with children they've been raised around.

If you leave a dog to it's own devices, don't nurture it, feed it, love it, of course it becomes a feral creature. Feral dogs hunt, eat, kill, as is their way, and has been for centuries. But if those dogs had been truly cared for, they would not have randomly attacked 2 hogs and 2 people. The fault lies with irresponsible owners who simply don't care what their animals could be capable of.

you can believe what ever you want..............I hope nothing like this ever happens to you or someone you know. If you believe that the dogs don't have a nature of there own then your living in a dream world and you have all of these conditions to back up your point . the only time it bit...and if they are raised with the kids.....etc, etc, etc. I don't ever want any animal I can't trust ALL the time!!

So...her dogs kill your animals, and she's pissed at you??? What did she expect you to do, let them attack whatever they wanted on your property?

    Sounds like a nutcase.

In my province pit bulls are banned. Those that existed before the ban came into effect have to be muzzled when they're out. I know that pit bull affecionados here were upset with the law, but I really don't care. I understand that any dog can snap; the problem with pitbulls is that when they do, their jaws exert tremendous pressure / square inch, and they won't let go.

Seems you were the aggressor here. Not familiar with the laws in ABQ, but common sense tells me this was not the right choice. You went there with the intent to kill those dogs. You were not defending yourself.

A physical tether is neither necessary nor sufficient to control an animal.

NYC parks allow "off leash" animals before 9am and after 9pm so long as the park is open and the following conditions met:

§1-04 Prohibited Uses : New York City Department of Parks & Recreation

Well the owners of the dogs wanted to stay out of civil court. So I agreed that if they paid the $1600 for the damages that I was good with it and they were paid in full.
They said they would be at my house this past week with the "cash in hand"....guess what???? No cash! No call!! no vistit!! So I guess it's time to go the legal system route. With court costs and legal fees. DUMB ASS!

It's going to cost them twice as much for nothing...All they would have had to do is come talk to me if they couldn't get ALL of the money right now. I'm a resonable man I know times are hard..they are for all of us. I could have worked out a payment plan with them, but they just hoped it would go away

Agreed. $1600.00 is a chunk of cash to come up with at any time, good or bad, and it has not been long at all since this happened. I am certainly not hurting financially but in this short time I would have difficulty even coming up with half that. But I can assure you that if it were my dogs...and it never would be..I would be over talking to you. And paying you what I could, as often as I could until my debt to you was paid. But that's me. I have been told I am unorthadox.

It is no secret that some breeds have more tendency to be agressive but I agree with Pyro. It is up to the owner to mold your pets nature. While no one can predict an animals actions 100% of the time or humans for that mater. After all they do have their own existence and mind, I believe that any dog can be controled by a proper owner. Also like Pyro I had a wolf/germansheperd hybed years ago, buy far the best dog I have ever owned and it to bit an attacker. Other than that one instant when it felt its master in danger and justifiably so it was one of the most socialiy adapted and friendly dogs I have been around. Back to the start of the thread I would have killed the two dogs that attacked the pig also, I absolutly would not tolerate my family being in danger on my own proporty.

I totally think you are justified in protecting your property and your family. With that said I believe you shouldn't blame the Pit bull breed. The owners have a responsiblity to keep them under control at all times. But the truth is there are way too many people who think it is cool sounding to own pit bulls and don't realise it does take more awareness and effort than maybe some other breeds. I have never personally owned a pit bull but I do have a Doberman Pinscher. His breed also gets a bad rep and I can tell you that he is the biggest baby you will ever see. My parents have a black lab who has bitten 4 seprate people who all came into their back yard uninvited. Blame the dogs, yes. Blame the owners, yes. Blame the breed, no. Once again props to you for protecting what you love in this life.

well I went to their house last night to ask about the money...They said they didn't have it...I chewed their ass for telling me they would and them not showing up with it. (They told me they would have it to me by this past week I didn't tell them when to get it to me). Then I asked them "when will you have it?" they said "By the first on nov." So I told them they had until the first of nov. to get it to me or we would have to go another route(IE. Court)

I think I'm being more than fair don't you??

BTW I threw in the whole ..."I taking your word and handshake as man as meaing your going to do the right thing and there's nothing more important than a man's word....
