this is as far as I can push a tire. This one made it to 3500 then went flat while riding. I rode it home, but I just don't think I can get any more out of it... That string in the pic is not stuck to the tire, it is from inside the tire...

You go, Reg! Cut it down the middle, melt it back together and put it on the front.

And I thought it was just me that did that while riding. Learn something every day.

That pic is so unsafe that just by looking at it I'm afraid I might crash if I think about it later while on my bike.

I'm right there with ya, BZ. I don't push my tires that bad. A little cupping, a few belts showing, they are gone and I wait for the new ones before I go riding.

I'll usually let the rear show cords before replacing it. Maybe not as bad a Reg's tire tho.

I have a riding buddy who did a 400-mile ride back to NE Ohio from a long weekend group ride in Virginia with cords showing the whole trip back. Turned out OK but I think he learned a lesson. :frown:

I've seen another member of this forum ride two up with a rear not much better looking than yours. He said it would hold up for one more day in the twisties because the sides still had plenty of rubber. Crazy, I don't have the balls that his passnger did. Hahah (JK Anna)

But Pun, when you showed up on the CBR, yes the tires were bad, but they also were so old and rock hard they were like concrete. They were pertrified tires, they don't blow out LOL!

The CBR900 was bad. The front suspension was...well it no longer existed:eek:
