Who wouldn't you want to share a good thing and help keep cyclists safe?
I finally ordered some additional lighting for the bike in the interest of being seen so that I could stay off the hoods of Buicks. I got a pair of 16-LED Hyperlites for the rear and a similar pair of Hyper-Whites for the front. The rear lights are always on at 30% brightness for additional running light visibility (and they are brighter than the stock LED tailight) and then they come on at 100% brightness when braking and flash as well (one can set them to flash for only the first 5 seconds or for the entire time the brakes are applied...I chose the former). They are VERY bright and cagers really seem to back off. Very cool. The front lights are intensely bright blue-white light that simply make you more visible. They look like small driving lights from a distance. They mount to the forks of the bike so the distance between the headlight and the Hypers makes you look bigger. The model I chose can also flash but they make it clear that they are not covered under the statute that allows modulating headlights. They are to be used "for emergency purposes" such as being stuck at the side of the road. I can see flipping them to flash mode for brief times to get just a bit more attention. Both units are fairly easy to install (and I am a klutz) so don't be afraid or have your dealer put them on. Great instructions, great products. I cannot recommend them enough (and no, I am not related to the company...I just have a "thing" for lights!)
    Party on, Wayne!

Ok! Let's see if I can post these photos. And the link should be www.hyperlites.com

The second shot is of the (lighted) switch for the front lights. The third shot is of the bike with no lights on at all, the fourth shot was before I got the aim on the right side correct...you can see that just like any light, the set-up is critical. The last shot is everything on but it is difficult to really get the effect in a photo. Both the front and back lights are BRIGHT!
(And I know what you are saying...my "VFR" seems to have changed just a bit...)

Well, I kinda traded my VFR straight across for a 2006 Kawasaki ZX-10R (6000 miles). I guess I need to start another thread that reviews this magical bike!

    Thanks!

Some LEDs have a very narrow angle in which they appear "bright". Move to the side a few degrees and they appear rather "dim".

And, "off to the side a few degrees" is the way the cager who will make a left turn into your path would see the White lights.

So, rather than "straight on" pictures like the sellers always show, I'd sure like to see what these lights look like in real use.

Thanks for showing what you have.

I am the one laughing out loud! I used the very same line myself recently with my wife...I thought I was pretty darn clever. It really does create more horesepower due to the Ram-Air effect at koo-koo-crazy-high speeds.

Yes, good points. I want to get a friend to ride it so I can see them coming down the road. These seem to have a wider angle than most LEDs...same with the rear LEDs...

I figure ANYTHING helps when it comes to visibility, esp on a BLACK bike.
(Oh, and I did post a "Review" on the bike on the Forum if you are interested.)

I've also have a set of 16 LED Hyper-Lites. I have the fender eliminator installed. So the license plate mount is at a goofy angle. Anyone install them on this type of set up? There really isn't any vertical surfaces in the rear area.

I bought the black metal mounting plate that they sell. I then cut it in two pieces and cut the length down of each piece. Before mounting each piece via the top license holes, I carefully bend each piece in a vise so that I create an angle that allows the Hyper-lites to be mounted so that they shine at the correct angle. (I mount them horizontal above the plate but you can do the same approach and mount them vertically on the sides.

First, you'll see that I have the license in the traditional location, I am not using a fender eliminator like yours. And second, you'll see I was mistaken, I DO have the lights in the vertical position on the sides, not horizontal above as I thought...I think I originally went with the latter but changed to the former. It is all about monkeying around with the pieces.
What is good is that the LED units are so small and light and modern adhesive tape is strong. Good luck with finding just the right set-up!

Bad thing is that my plate is stuffed way up between the exhaust. There is hardly enough room to get the license plate mounted!

I see. You might try using the bottom holes of the license plate to mount the little brackets.
