I am going to be doing about 60 miles RT a day. Some of this will be when dark. What are the best heated grips, how do I plug in a heated vest? What is the best touring windsreen and is there any way to make the headlight brighter?

    Thanks!
    David

I can help with the first and last requests:

Best heated grips: I LOVE my Oxford Heaterz

Brighter headlights: I bought the Xenon Riders H4 (main beam) and H7 (high beam) kits. Forget the H7s, they add almost nothing. I LOVE the H4s.

As for your heated vest you need to run a 12v outlet thru a fuse box and a relay so what ever happen the fuse from the fusebox blow save you a lot of headach. Hope this help

    Lighting-
I added $18 Walmart auxiallary fog lights to the fork legs in place of the reflectors. They are hardwired to the battery with the switch placed on the left inner fairing just below the bars. They work great for filling in the gap below the low beam and increase the intensity of the low beam. Conspicuity is greatly improved with daytime use. Replacements are cheap and easy as well versus PIAA's etc.
Do a search for some sort of H4 bridge that increases the power to your existing lowbeam. Can't recall the site offhand.

Windscreen- I found a ZG "blemished" ST screen on Ebay. They are there from time to time, and didn't have any noticeable blemishes but are somewhat cheaper than a perfect screen. The DB looks like it provides very similar wind deflection as well.

Heated Grips- Got mine from the local BMW shop. They are the adhesive bar wraps that allow you to use the existing grips. I find a lot of useful touring accessories and expertise at the BMW shop. The kids typically working at Honda dealerships don't know much about "serious" riding and are only there to push the products they stock.

Fog lights. The round chrome ones work better but this is what I had before.

I read one review of the Oxford heated grips where a guy complained they still draw a bit of current even when they're off- he had a battery problem when he didn't ride for a few weeks- anyone experience this?

Then he needs to run a relay so they only work when the bike is turned on, all add ons should be wired this way to prevent such failures. Unless you have neons and want to leave em on while parked at the local bike show to attract all the honeys to your pimped out ride....................lolz
