Mystery hose?

Now that's a stripper name!

But seriously, folks. I just changed the oil and filter (first time ever!), installed my PCIII and Speedo Healer and connected a brake light flasher. Then I replaced all the push pin rivets with Dzus fasteners from Kurvy Girl. Everything works (how cool is that?)

But I cannot figure out where this breather hose (in the green circle) came from and where it should connect to. I had the tank up (front only), but there's nothing that is obviously missing a hose.



Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Even mocking would be appropriate!

 

Isn't that a drain tube from bottom of airbox ??

 

Not that I can see. I am completely baffled.

 

Where does the other end of that hose go to? It kinda looks like the fuel tank overflow hose. I will look at my bike tomorrow and see what I can dig up on it.

 

Look up under the bottom of the gas tank and you will see the other piece of hose that connects to the white union shown in your picture, it is the vent line for the fuel tank.

 

I thought it was V4Bear's toliet drinking hose stuck on someone else's VFR!

yeah it does look like a drain tube. Just to confirm look at the bottom front of the gas tank. You should see 2 metal tubes poking out and if one of them doesn't have a rubber hose connected to it then that is to be connected there.

 

It is a drain/vent tube, but not from the tank. There are four metal fittings there, and each has a hose connected.

The tube in question joins two others in a bracket under the engine, venting whatever it carries onto the road.

I really appreciate the suggestions and pointers, but I need more please!

 

It is from the tank. As Norcalboy and Joey said, follow the two lines from the bottom front of the tank. The tube that you have pictured is the second piece to one of those lines going to the front of the tank. Trace the two from the front of the tank and then connect the unconnected end of it to the piece you have circled in green.

All three of you are correct! Thank you very, very much! The problem (mine) was that the hose it connects to just fits under the metal strap that is there to guide the hoses, so it didn't look incomplete.

Once you fine gentlemen pointed the way (three times!), I was able to reconnect it in about five seconds.

 

The fasteners that I used are not perfect, but I'll give you the info.

I bought these Dzus fasteners from kurveygirl.com: 14mm Working Length Dzus, Button Head, Black, but I bought them from Kurvey Girl on eBay, because they were cheaper. Here's exactly what I bought: 10 Black DZUS PANEX Street motorcycle bike bolts long. At my request, they shipped the button head version at the same price.

I have used them to replace the push pin rivets that join the right and left fairings below the engine, and they work okay there (drill the plastic out to fit), but the backing plate fit is awkward for other locations. Those were the ones I was worried about coming open at speed, so I'll gradually phase out the others.
