i was up in boca a few weeks ago. i cop was eying me in the other lane. i figured im agout to get pulled over, but i wasnt sure why...
he rolled up along side me at a stop light and said something along the lines of, "hey nice bike, i ride too, but your plate isnt visible and thats a 1000 dollar fine now, so be carefull. im not going to site you for it but others up here will."
then he waved and drove away.
i immediately pulled over and bent my plate down as much straight up and down as possible... lol
kinda weird situation but he seemed like a nice guy.
the last one before that was back in key west maybe 2 years ago. i was on my way to class on my cb750.
i banged it through the first three gears redlining each. as soon as i slowed down i saw a cop on my ass. i was thinking, "oh this is gonna be a bad one" (like all of key west, this was in a 30 mph zone).
he shouted on the loadspeaker "PULL OVER NOW"
i signalled to him that i was going to pull over as soon as the road permitted.
i think he thought i was gonna run and when i pointed out that i was pulling over and the spot i was going to, it put him at ease a little.
anyways he grilled me really hard.
    ran my bike and licience.
then asked me where i was going then what classes i was taking.
after everything checked out i appologized and he gave me a warning.
under the circumstances i think he was a really good guy.
i think a lot of it has to do with being mature and respectful to the officer that pulls you over. i have dealt with some bad apples though.
not sure if it was just me being young with a bad attitude, or what. probably just being reckless all the time... lol
growing up i couldnt go more than 6 months with out getting a ticket, but i seem to be doing a lot better now.

I been pulled over and ticketed a number of times, funny enough all my tickets ive gotten were on my gixxer, none on my VFR which is funny because i dont ride any different on the bright come and get me red VFR as i do with my all black incognito Gixxer. Im starting to feel like im being profiled.... All 3 incidents the cop was just doing his thing, wasn't angry or out of line, he just wrote me a ticket and told me to have a nice day.

    Generally, they've been professional.

I had one really bad turd of a cop (Maryland State Trooper) on Route 50 back in 2001. After he man handles me, for no reason, I am allowed to stand up and take off my helmet and unzip my suit he sees my business outfit underneath. His eyes got wide an dhe asked what I did for a living. "I'm in management for a large company" I said. He starts to profusly apologize for his behavior. When I said that their was no reason to yank me off my feet and slam me down to frisk me he turned back into a douche LOL! I just kept my mouth shut got my ticket, payed it, and moved on.

I could just tell the guy was one of those real 'jar-head' a-holes you run into and was not the norm in Policing. It was just my turn to meet one.

I was pulled over a few weeks ago were I live. Delaware trooper was nice, as was I, and he cut me a break. I thanked him and moved on. It should be noted I have no points on my license and I sure that helped.

cops around here seem to be pretty tollerant of bikes. i got caught without a hbelmet once (inside my neighborhood, will never go outside it without one) and the cop was more ticked that i wouldent come out of my house than anything. then my wife came home... no ticket.

a wmu campus cop coulda took my bike and liscence once. speeding. then speeding in another zone. pulled through a one way. and didnt have my liscence one me.

ever since that one iv been trying to do the limit all of the time.

what is it with women cops? i have NEVER once been given ANY slack by a female cop.

AS we say down here in Oz. Not all cops are dickheads but most of the dickheads are in the Highway Patrol.
My weirdest experience was when i passed a highway patrol car one morning. Suddenly he did a "u" turn and put on his lights. I pulled over wondering what i had done wrong. When he approached me he appologised, saying he saw the bike and was thinking of buying one!!! What did i think of it?
I offered him a ride saying that I'd watch his car. He laughed, declined the offer and said some other time. We talked bikes for about 20 mins. Life is full of surprises, especially when you ride.
    Regards Smithy.

I've had generally favorable experiences with LEO's while on my bike. Both times I got pulled over, I was really cut a lot of slack, although I did get ticketed once. In my car/truck/boat, they seem to be a bit harsher.

But all these naysayers about how arrogant the cops are! Come on, cut them some slack. Now to give the police a little break, I'll volunteer that I'm an owner in an insurance agency. Who wants to talk about insurance?

    Here we go...

My most recent ticket was 'earned' in July. I've gotten maybe 10-12 (2 on the bike) in my life - 24 years of driving and 3.5 of riding. This latest one ticked me off. OH state trooper said he clocked me at 73, locked me in at 69 on a country 2-lane state highway. I didn't think I was going that fast, but I was accelerating away from a stop sign when he clocked me.

Thought about fighting it, but I had just taken 2 days off work to attend a funeral in IN, and couldn't see taking another day off to fight a ticket 100 mi. away from home. In fact, I was on my way back from the funeral when I got stopped.

Maybe what got to me is I was wearing full gear (except for jeans) and even a bright yellow safety vest. Oh, and I had the matching OEM bags on, so it looks like a bit less of a supersport. Meanwhile one of those idiotic HD riders and passenger go by just before this with no gear, no helmets and wearing shorts, on a loud bike that doesn't brake or handle particularly well. I'm in the middle of nowhere, there's nearly zero traffic, I'm in full control of my machine, have stock pipes on my VFR, am dressed well enough to be seen and I won't die if I hit the pavement...and I'M the menace to society?! I call BS.

BTW, I was carrying concealed (with my permit of course, Sig in tankbag) during this stop. I waited on the bike until the LEO came to me, then told him when he approached me. I unzipped my jacket and pulled out my wallet, gave the trooper my license and CCW card. He never even asked about the gun. Props to him for playing it cool, but we all know CCW holders are not the ones cops have to worry about!

I don't hate cops, but I hate getting tickets. I will say I've deserved every ticket I ever got, b/c I was speeding, but it had been almost 3 years since my last ticket. Thought I could catch a break last time, but no. If you have any tickets within the last several years and/or any points on your license, you're getting another ticket.

And it's been very bad in Ohio this year. Budget shortfalls have caused state and local police to go on ticket-writing binges. I guess we've had enough warning, however, so I should have been more careful.

Most cops have been professional, including during this last event, but I had one Cuyahoga Falls LEO (ticket-happy haven - never, ever speed thru CF, OH) who was a real asshat. Dude, you caught me speeding. I didn't rob a freakin' bank, so what's with the attitude? It's usually the 'burb and small town cops that get the bad reps for 'tudes. I've never had an issue with a state trooper.

Now I am not buying that shit for one minute. GOpher

Unless, of course, you were standing in the picture window waving your junk at people.

Or up on the roof naked, but then you wouldnt actually be IN the house.

neighbor called the cops because i fixed the fence they sabotaged. one of the complaints that she had was that her daughter saw me naked and is "tromatized". she failed to mention it was some 6 months before she told the cop this. he also told me that my dogs were legally required to be tied up in my fenced in back yard.

some cop. this is what happens when the neighbor with serious issues is friends with the police.

Good thinking! Everyone knows you can't hurt your head while riding inside your neighborhood!

Do you ever actually think through or even hear the things you say?
