Hi all, wondering if anyone out there has an opinion on modifiying the top triple clamp to accept a pair of bar risers for a fighter conversion i am working on. I am not sure if drilling holes to mount the risers will create an issue with weakness in the top clamp. Have been looking through some old pics of fighters that some members have built before and some of them look like they have done what i want to do but would like to be sure. Any opinions will be appreciated and i will post some pics of the progress so far.
    Cheers.

You could get a kit from LSL which comes with a new triple clamp w/ risers built in, a new bar, and longer brake lines; but they're expensive.

I've done that before with good results. Yes, you are drilling holes in the upper triple which weakens it, but you follow that up with bolting across a very solid brace in the form of the risers. Just put the risers out toward the fork tubes as far as you can and you should be fine.

Thanks all for the input. It makes sense that after drilling the holes you are rebracing with the risers so i think i will give that a try. Will post a couple of pics when done. Cheers.
