I'd love to. Australia and New Zealand are places I'd truly love to visit some day.

sure, i think you refer to reson 5.

get the 'whanau' together (get the 'family' together-native maori terminology pronounced 'Far Now')

stay in the 'batch' (local slang for a beach dwelling or holiday home usually near a beach. a batch can be as small as a single room or as big as a mansion)

crack open the "chilly bin" (thermal storage device for keeping food/drink either hot or cold. Aussie equivalent = 'ESKI'... usually box shaped with a lid and a handle, fill with ice & beer....)

slap on the 'Jandals' (local slang for favoured beach/street wear. same as aussie 'thongs' - rubber sole with Y shaped retainer for toes)

this is all basically saying ' head down to the beach "

    Flip Flops:

Went into a Beach shop in Fort Lauderdale Florida in Aug 2002 the shop assistant came over and asked if he could help to which I replied " I'd like a pair of thongs " after he went quiet and stared at me I knew something was wrong so added " they're for my feet ".

After blinking and twitching for a bit he twigged and smiled with " you'll be wanting some Flip Flops then.... ":smile:
