I'm conisdering pulling the trigger on this deal. A dealer in my area had 40 of these and now is down to 2. $8900 out the door for an 08 with zero miles. Seems like it's too good to pass up.

I've longed for a cbr1K for some time now due to its light weight, considerable power, and prodigious awesomeness on the twisties; but I'm unsure if I should do this. I wouldn't keep both bikes for too long; I would eventually sell one. If the CBR is not all that I want, I'll sell it. If it's great, I'll sell the VFR. I can't afford both. I love my VFR, but I'm always checking out other bikes -- I think many of us do this. By the way, the VFR has enough power for me, but I'm thinking the CBR would be great for all the canyon riding I do. The only drawback I see about this bike compared to the VFR is that they're a dime a dozen. Oh yeah, the SSSA, centerstand, and V4 are also great on the VFR. However, there are few 5th gen VFRs on the road, although not on this forum!

    Convince me either way!!!!

    Thanks.

Honda of Chanute is in Kansas, and has brand new 07 cbr 1k for $6999. I bought a left over 04 vfr from them a few year ago and the price they advertised was out the door price for me. This is there link. If it was me, I would fly in and ride back for that kind of savings.

If I had 7k laying around I would already have one in my garage. I think that Shawnee Honda was also offer 0.96% apr, but im not sure for how long of a term. If you don't do long rides that are greater than 100miles and you ride solo most of the time I would say go get a true RR sport bike, you will enjoy it. I had a R6 and a gsxr-750 both are really fun for short rides but they do wear your butt and wrists out. keep us posted.

No, I've never ridden one, but I know I'd like it. I usually only ride about 120 miles on Saturdays and Sundays. $7k for a cbr1K probably the best deal one can find. Thanks for the heads up. The only question is regarding registering an out-of-state bike in California. I think it has to have somewhere around 7.5k miles before you can register it.

The power, weight and handling of the current liter bikes is mind blowing...... rode an '05 cbr1000RR and the guy had magnesium wheels on it. What really blew me away was one time I was at half throttle in 3rd going strait at about 85 mph and then nailed it. The front end just popped up like nothing, insta wheelie. Whoa, didnt expect that! I did something like 110 miles on the thing mostly twists and I ended up pretty whipped. Of course, banging the loud handle probably had something to do with that.

Riding that thing made me realize no matter how much bucks you dumped at the vfr, it will never handle as well as the current crop of sport bikes.

But which one if it has to be one or the other? Yow- I would have to stick with the VFR for the all day rides and treks to other states. The CBR would kill me in a multiday ride. --- Money no object? I would keep what I have and add the liter bike or the gixxer750 (wish Honda would make a damn 750) and then add the FJ1300. Yeah thats it. That would cover about any kind of riding I would ever want to do.

Dang, I go fast enough on my VFR. I don't need that much power, but I think a 600 may be underpowered. I wonder if it's hard to control the urge to slam the throttle when you have so much power at your disposal. I wish my bike was lighter and had better handling.

The 600s to me have always needed to be revved the piss outta them to get them to move. Thats probably why I ended up with VFRs - reasonable mid range to work with for the street.

The gotcha with the liter bikes now - you talking something that runs low 10s and mbe high 9s, running 160hp. If you feel like pushing it, your at highly illegal speeds. Skill check yourself realistically before you decide to buy.

You would know better than I would about the registration thing. I bought a used Buell from Texas last year and didnt have any trouble transferring it into my name, but im here in Oklahoma and laws are different from state to state. Good luck!!!

I'm kinda in the same boat except I already have a CBR and I want a VFR. I posted about LA Cycle because they're the cheapest in SoCal. I'm considering buying a VFR from Southern Honda in TN for $6980. BTW, they have the 08 CBR1000RR for $6980 as well. Apparently, the VFR is 50 state legal so it would be no problem registering in California. As long as the bike is 50 state legal, you should have no problem registering it. Otherwise, you'll have to register it out of state until you get to 7500 miles.

Keep the VFR if at all possible. If you dont, sooner or later you will regret letting her go. The vfr is like the girl that is good in bed and still cooks, cleans and will do anything for you, vs the girl that is fantastic in bed but that's all.
