Is anyone as pissed as me that Honda have missed an opportunity to have a V-5 engine in the new generation VFR? The new model just seems more of the same to me, but a V-5 would be something else! If Honda left off all the V-Tech, Air bag stuff there would be enough money to pay for the extra cylinder. Honda developed a unique engine in MotoGP and now it is just letting it fade away. Like the RVF and RC45 led to the VFR 750 and VFR 800 the racing V-5 bike should lead VFR into the future and another 20 years.

They say that the new V4 design is MotoGP derived now, and that it will be the platform for many upcoming models... We'll see.

I could actually care less (V4 vs. V5), I'm FAR more concerned that the bike actually be GOOD and compete with the Concours 14/FJR1300...

Yes but how many World Championships has the V4 won - nil? The 990 V5 won Motogp in 2002 and 2003 when it was it was 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Since the Interceptor is NOT a full on repli-racer, who cares? If you want MotoGP technology, go buy an Aprilia RSV4 (when they come out in the states). That's not the VFR's bag.

Maybe Honda did everyone a favor. It could have been overly expensive to make and maintain as a prototype.

    and 2006.

I am disappointed in the direction that the vfr is heading. I don't want a big fat touring pig. With tons of stuff that i don't want on a motorcycle.

What i wanted was something under 500 pounds wet and around 120 hp at the wheel. With semi comfortable ergo. With a 5.5 gallon gas tank for reasonable range.

While i am dreaming i also like it to be made with the consumer in mind for maintenance. No vtec crap and the fairing designed around minimal take off to change things like the oil.

I bet if u looked at the sales figures on the vfr from generation 4 and 5 and compared them to generation 6 u see a big drop off. I guess maybe they are going after a different market segment with this vfr then the past ones.

I think its been a fail move.

I'm not sure why this came to mind when I saw this, but I guess we should be happy that Honda did not introduce a VTEC version of a desmodromic valvetrain on the new VFR.
