I ran across a 94-97 swingarm in the classifieds here and was thinking that would be a cool change to make to the 87 VFR700 I am rebuilding.

Does anyone know if it would fit without too many modifications? Am I just wasting my time?

    TIA!!!

TOE CUTTER put a 5th gen swingarm on an '86. Check out his avatar to see a pic. I think he has a build thread around here for it somewhere. If not he'll probably let you know what you can expect. He seems willing to help folks out.

It's a sweet looking mod if you can pull it off. Good luck.

I've yanked a lot while on the internets. But never a chain. Too kinky for me.

You gonna ride that down next time you visit SLO, TC?

    Somehow I dont think so!

Thanks for the links guys. Good reading. The swingarm for sale is a 3rd gen so that may be too much trouble right TC? In the link you said you started with a 3rd gen but switched to a 5th gen and that was "easier"....

Sorry, the swingarm for sale is a Gen 4.... 94-97...

No ,a garage queen. Would like to but the way we ride in SLO requires a bike that can be repaired.I have had times when I rode it like I stole it but wondered what I was thinking later.

The gen 3 is of a design that would require a wild amount of machine work. You can make anything work but so much material would have to be removed it became clear it was not the path for me.
