    GOOD VISION IN A DOWNPOUR

" I haven't Tried this myself yet, but I will..... Also might work well riding a M/C .... I'll try it in the Jeep first"

GOOD VISION IN A DOWNPOUR DID NOT KNOW THIS....
    HAVE TO TRY IT!!!

How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour.
I can vouch for this!! We are not sure why it is so effective just
try this method when it rains heavily.

This method was told by a Police friend who had experienced and
confirmed it. It is useful..even driving at night.

Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED
of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibility in front
of the windscreen is still bad......

In the event you face such a situation, just try your SUN GLASSES
(any model will do), and miracle! All of a sudden, your visibility in
front of your windscreen is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain.

Make sure you always have a pair of SUN GLASSES in your car,
as you are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision,
but also might save your friend's life by giving him this idea..

Try it yourself and share it with your friends! Amazing, you still
see the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling.
You can see where the rain bounces off the road.
It works to eliminate the "blindness" from passing semi's spraying
you too. Or the "kickup" if you are following a semi or car in
    the rain.

They ought to teach that little tip in driver's training.
    It really does work.

    Thanks for the tip, Monk.

I think, but not sure, that the sunglasses need to be polarized. I know the article above says any sunglasses, but not sure. Just my $.02.

You made me remember something I heard years ago about polarized glasses and riding(probably different while raining)....... But due to what they were intended for was to stop reflection.... throws up a warning for use while riding.... makes it hard to see oil/water/puddles on the road.... makes since ....Fyi........ Thx

I use my sunglasses all the time when riding or driving in the rain... it works quite well and I will vouch for the tip. FWIW, mine are NOT polarized.

Of course I rarely use my wipers in the car as well. A good coat of Rain-X does wonders, both on the windshield of the car and the visor of the helmet. About the only time they come on is to wash the water spots off or around town at night when the street lights cause problems with refracted light through the raindrops.

It rarely rains here in LA but if it does, my Serengetti sunglasses (amber and smoked)are ready for a tryout.

Have you ever tried BlueBlockers.... kind of orange'e in colour.... You can tell if they are blueblockers by looking at the sky, and if the blue no longer shows you have a pair .... I was intruduced to them at my gun club years ago..... you can see stuff on the road, and deer in the woods..... I wish I could wear them now.... But I can't wear contacts, so I'd need Px blueblockers.... Did that once Mucho' bucks.......

There was another thread about glasses recently. I wear prescription as well, so I have no choice but to spend the money on quality prescription sunglasses. But I also spend a lot of time on the water (fishing), and polarized glasses are a necessity.

Lens colors vary for a reason - not just looks. Here's a link that seems pretty informative, for those that are interested.

I typically use brown and gray. The browns are on the light side (i.e you can see my eyeballs when I wear them), and these have proven great for wearing in the rain, when its foggy, mist, twilight, etc.
