Hello again Jay,
Hope today is better than yesterday and tomorrow better yet! Don't suppose rebuilding your bike is in the forefront of your mind right now but, the other guys (VFRD) have a posting today by donk69 for lots of 4th gen parts are really good prices...maybe your daughter wants to go shopping (???). Just a heads up, I know parts are getting rare and spendy.

Did't saw the photos untill now.......I'm really sorry about that, It's a shame that I live in another country so I would go to see a friend in hospital, let us know when you are recovered and the bike is ok too.
In Mexico we say that the material things are the less important when somebody has an accident, there will be another VFR in your way, just take it easy and get well soon.

Good question. not sure how it's going to play out, 4th gens are a lot of bike for the money, yet there are a few other models that have caught my eye, but at what price. thing is for me right off he bat is a helmet, I loved that one..

 

Your Shoei DID serve its purpose very well! It was money well spent (could've suffered a lot more from facial injuries)! Get well soon Jay. :smile:

Yes I second this, if Jay left the stache on the deer would've detected him approaching just from the sheer awesomeness. Moral of the story, stache on for safety!

Ha ha ha, well think of it this way, all gear all the time not only protects you but your beverage of choice so you got something to drink while waiting for the tow truck.

I have a Shoei X11 helmet and I really like it. I used to scoff at paying more than $200 for a helmet, but it's really nice. I thing I noticed the most is that it's more aerodynamic and lighter than the inexpensive one I initially bought.

Jay - I'm so very sorry to see the pics of you and your bike like that. I can relate to what you're going through because I dropped my 4th gen back in May and took some major injuries. The picture of your helmet looks eerily like the one I posted. I hope you heal up fast and get the bike back into one piece.

By the way, I heard that venison steaks are great with barbecue sauce and washed down with cold beer.

here's a photo from my sons cell phone I never saw the bike after the fact, till today, OMG! then he also brought over the visor off the helmet, i about shit myself.. again, thinking my face was like 1/2 inch at 50 on the pavement, yes the helmet served it's self very well. but man when you think about it ,it gets real erie to say the least. Not sure just what well be the fall out of all this I still feel like crap going to take a few weeks i feel, now i have two fingers working so i can sorta type, thanks agian for all the support, really is a tough spot to be in, yea the bike can be replaced, me not so, now goes the what could I have done different, if that and this,etc... , not going to beat myself up, shit happens, but???
Justin is down here now seeing what can be salvaged, pretty sure the insurance ain't going to give me much for the shock which IMO is a great piece, and it faired ok, so it's gota come out. well more later guys. stay tuned, god only knows whats next, be safe.
