Got stung here in Utahin the early 90's ,said it was not me! they could not prove it was.I didn't pay,They called it the photo cop.

 

Boy for once California has it correct. When you run a red light camera they take a picture of your vehicle and of the driver. The law states you must be able to clearly identity both the vehicle and the driver. If you get a ticket and its your wife or buddy driving the car they can not ticket you. You have no responsibility to identity who was driving and they are not able to ticket the registered owner. Most of these cameras are owned and operated by 3 party's not the police departments and there is a real conflict of interest here. It is not you job to id these people or to say if they really ran a red light. Fight it especially if you are not pictured in the photo

 

having received a ticket from a red light camera in CA, I can say this isn't true, you could not make out my face in the photo becuase of glare of the windsheild, I could only get out of the ticket by putting someone up for it, otherwise as the registered owner, I was responsible

 

I would to have to disagree. I know several people that got them where you cannot tell who is driving, however, the plate and type of vehicle was clear as day.
