Imagine what a small rock would do. I had rock it me today in my truck that would of put hole right through me, no matter where it hit.

I used to leave my helmet in my garage. Until one day about 4 miles from home I had a spider drop down right in front of my eyes. I tried to squish him on my visor, and then realized he was inside the helmet. I hate spiders.

But seriously, it is a real issue. I have been hit by all sorts of bugs and objects in my 40 years of bicycling. We have some amazingly large insects in the southwest. I did take a large bug to the eye once and it was painful for several days. I have inhaled insects before; a very odd feeling! I cannot imagine motorcycling without a full-face and all the gear.

Back when I was young and stupid, and had just started riding, I wasn't wering a helmet and a June bug hit my forhead at about 40MPH, nearly knocked me off the damn bike. I actually had a black and blue mark from it.

And next time you get off your bike, look at the bugs impalled on your helmet and visor, which is round and doesn't get as many bugs as the air flows around it better than your face; why would you even look at that and go, "yeah, need some protein in my diet!"

Look at the dings on your car hood too, from rocks and such, do you want that in your face?

seriously, there is no way I'd go without a helmet, even if I lived in a place with no law on it. I've caught rocks, bugs, cigarette butts, small twigs... Even caught a chunk of apple once when a crate of apples fell off some :asshat:'s truck... My lid has saved my face (and as a result my ass) on multiple ocassions... I'd never roll without it.

I've been tagged by a couple of birds. Once in the forehead, once in the chest.
