Just replaced my worn front Pilot Road 2 with a Pilot Power. Got 12,800 miles out of the PR2, but decided to try something with a little more grip this time even though I know it won't last as long.

After a 170 mile ride today through mountain twisties, freeways, highways, suburban streets, etc., this tire is great. Much quicker turn in than the PR2 - the bike wants to immediately lean over. I noticed this as I rode away from my driveway and as I barely touched the left bar to countersteer, the bike leaned instantly.

The grip is very confidence inspiring. I attacked the curves like I usually do, but this tire allowed me do it with more peace of mind, not worried about the tire slipping. I don't remember the PR2 ever being this grippy.

I'm running a Dunlop roadsmart on the back and the two different tires were very harmonious together. When the back one is worn I'm replacing it with a PR2. I like the dual compound tires for the rear so that I can get some decent mileage out of them.

In summary, after today's ride I like the Power more than the PR2 for providing confidence in the curves. I found the PR2 to be a great tire for commuting and not too agressive riding in the curves, but if you want to attack the mountains without worrying about loss of traction, the Power is much better. It might not last half as long as the PR2, but that's a factor one must consider when choosing between the two.

What a lot of peg draggers I know like, are to run PP's on the front, and PR2's on the back.......

Yeah, I would have to agree. I like to put a stickier tire in the front with a longer mileage tire in the back. I may try the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III in the front after the PP wears out, depending on how the PP works out long term.

I have a Dunlop Qualifier on the front and a Roadsmart in the rear. I got tired of shagging a sport rear every 3500miles so I decided to tryout the Roadsmart. Its turning out to be not a bad combination with the sport tire in front for total confidence and trust in control for the front wheel and the SportTour tire with the harder compound in the middle and sticky sport compound on the sides. No complaints so far...I will probably stay with the front sport and rear dual compound sporttour tire for a few more sets to see how it goes.

I've been on the fence about what to spoon on my front rim (to match my recently installed PR2 in the rear), but this post pretty much seals the deal for me. Thanks, Jaime!

Glad I could help. Had another 120+ mile ride today and the PP held up like a champ.
