I was just referring to the lens shape. For running and brake, just use the right bulb/wiring (or led).

    Cheers

I am mostly concerned with day time brightness. I'm sure it's bright at night but grabbing cagers attention in broad day light is the key. It's the old lady's fault who rear ends you till the investigator finds out your brake light is non DOT.

Not to keep beating a dead horse, but the third eye brake lights will have a DOT number on them.

I'll step away from the thread now.....:ninja:

While waiting for some parts to trickle in I decided to tackle my ugly plastics.

The piece that makes up the gap between the fairing and the frame has gotten faded and scratched. I've tried plastic paint, WD-40, P-jelly, etc. Nothing worked for long. The scratches were bad so they had to go. A quick sanding to get things ready.

I picked up some carbon fiber and some epoxy.
    upload_2023-9-15_10-24-11.jpeg

This was definitely NOT the piece to practice on, lots of different angles and planes. The cloth was reluctant to lay down without wrinkles but it finally did. There are some questionable spots but it was my first go so... I'd say I'm pleased. It definitely has depth and it's clear it's not a sticker. It looks way better than before.

I think I'll run an inner fender so I dug out an old dusty one from the rafters. This will not do, faded and scratched. Yep, carbon!
    upload_2023-9-15_10-25-18.jpeg

The back of the fender is pretty irregular so I'll just clean it up as best as I can and leave it. You can't see it once mounted any way. Now to start on the tank mod.

CF is from ebay and the resin is from a local marina.

I had to spin the CBR cap around due to my custom vent tube but I'll probably go with an aftermarket spin on quick fill so it won't matter. Looks good in real life. Just need to lay on some body filler and smooth it out. It took about 500 spot welds to close it up!

Time to get the RC30 wheel that's going on the VFR arm powder coated. Thought I would do it myself. I bought a system online and some white gloss powder.

Next I needed an oven. Plenty of free Avocado Green ones around. I extended the oven out to make it big enough to do a Ceramic coating on my exhaust as well. it's made out of 2" foil lined rigid insulation. I welded up a slide system to make getting things in easier. worked great.

Next I sand blasted the RC wheel

I pre-baked the raw wheel for 20 minutes to flash off any contaminants and let it cool slightly before putting on the powder. Time for the powder. I had no idea how much to put on so I just winged it. Into the oven it went for 20 minutes after the part had reached cure temp. I really wasn't sure what to expect. Frankly I thought it would look crappy for my first try and I would be blasting it again and starting over. When the time was up I shut off the oven and let the wheel cool down slowly inside till it was room temp. To my utter shock it looked amazing. Really smooth and glossy. Better than some pro jobs I've seen on wheels. Now if it stays on for a tire mounting I'll be jacked.

I think it was around $70. The powder was $20 for 2lbs. It paid for itself with one wheel. Now to do the front.

Got the body filler on and a coat of primer. The V45 tank will be better for a tank bag than the stock kR tank. The CBR cap looks a ton better as well.

very cool. I thought of doing the same thing to have more available gas caps. 86-87s are really hard to come by.

    Exhaust

Just had a crazy idea. Instead of 2 cans, why not use 1 car can with 2 outlets, maybe a Remus or something? Just a crazy idea.

Good luck on the continued adventures.

No such thing as crazy idea's, only crazy people. The Yosh cans were already modded to fit the rear of my stock kR so it was easier to use them as is. I did have to angle them up for the RC45 tail but I was making a new exhaust anyway so no big thing. Here they are in my stock tail.
