I have been riding motorcycles for two years now and have put 8,000 miles on a supermoto and a ninja 600. What I have discovered is that while I love tearing up the twisties, I also love to take long touring rides. The interceptor seems perfect. I only have one question now. I just sold my supermoto and ninja, and have a good deal secured with a friend who owns a bike shop on a 09 ABS interceptor. Now I keep hearing about this new 2010 model, perhaps a 1200, more aggressive styling... So, should i go with the 09 so i have a bike to ride all winter (I use my bike for commuting as long as it's not icy, have car, but prefer bike)? Or wait it out for the 2010 which looks like it may be super sweet but could also have "first gen" issues with new engine and chassis? :ninja:

How much you got to spend? You should be able to pick an 09 for a lot less than a 2010 is going to go for. If price is not an issue I'd wait and see exactly what the 2010's are like and then make the cut.

    Sweet deals

I see old stock for sale in the 8 grand area. I say jump on the crazy good deal and trade it in later after we get some idea what this new bike is gonna be.

I'm sure if Honda names the new bike a VFR1200, new leftover 6th gen prices at the dealer should drop like a rock....

Yeah, I would say wait for the new model to be fully released. That way if you like the new model, they you aren't kicking yourself. And if you don't like the new one, it should cause prices on the current bikes to plument. If you can wait that is.
But yes the VFR is a good mix, when I bought my 98, it replaced a BMW K1200RS and a CBR600F3. Was it as good at touring as the BMW, no, but much better in the tight stuff. Was it as good in the tight stuff as the CBR, no, but on the streets, not too much worse and much easier to do trips on than the CBR. It all depends on what a tour is to you, and what the twisty bits are like for you.

Thanks for the good ideas guys. I think i might try to wait out the winter and see what 2010 looks like... that is if not having a bike doesn't kill me first. (is that a double neg?)

honestly with the little experience you have i would go with an 09 rather than jump up to a liter bike.

    No Kidding.
What year was your K-bike? I still have a 2001.

How about this for a solution.....
Buy a used gen5 now - have a bike until / if / when the new VFR 1200 - er whatever - shows up & trade or sell the gen5 once the bugs are out of the new design.
