Congrats on the decision. I hope it is the perfect bike for you.
Having gone through the same process (and ending up with a Daytona 675 as a second bike) I know how confusing it can be.
Ultimately it is up to each person to decide whether to listen to logic, to their heart, or to Forum members/family members/friends when it comes to buying a bike.

The ZX14? Personally i would go for the FJR1300, the K1300S or the K1300GT if you are looking for that sort of bike.

What finally swung you in the decision - I just saw Sebspeed's cornering pics on the Scott dampers thread, and started to realize that there was probably lots I hadn't used in my VFR. So just came back from the Honda showroom, eyes set on the white one.

But the ZX14 sales guy just called me offering a 'free' top box (hard) so I'm thinking about all that eyeball-sucking acceleration again

I would like to see you follow through with your project. I do not want to be the one to deter you from attempting anything. If you do it, let me know how it all works out for you.

Hey guy's sorry for not getting back sooner.... I was riding all weekend!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! Guy's I have to tell you the 14 is a Monster!!! Brakes are unbelievable, Power is infectious and the handling is great....I really do love this bike!!! It's very comfortable to ride. I do think it needs the Heli bars but other than that it’s quite a bike....I can't tell you how hard this freaking thing pulls!!! 1, 2, 3 will easily pull the front wheel. I feel pretty comfortable on it now and I pulled one hellofa second gear wheelie and set it down at like 80!! I was riding with a buddy early Sunday morning (he rides a Honda Black Bird 1100) and we on route 8 near the end where its real safe.....He kicked it down to 5th and started to go!!!! We were already doing 105 and he starts pulling away so I kick it down to 5th and just start pulling hard...... closer closer and then right by him as we are hitting 170mph in what seemed like 5 seconds!!! I just had to prove the point!! lol But I don't think we will be doing that anytime soon again.....DAMN the freaking wind was crazy!!! So in the end I'm very happy I made my decision but in tight quarters I can see the Viffer is the better handler....So I guess I'll just have to drop some weight and let her rip!!!!

Excellent! Glad you like your new steed! Thanks for for coming back to us with the write up. I personally don't go for the 'you don't need need performance like that' argument, because if it were true that we'd all be on 250cc's. Keep the adrenaline rushing, and watch for those patrols! :laser:

Is there anything you think you might miss about the VFR (other than the handling you mentioned)?

The handling is real good on the 14 as I have already made sure I don't have any chicken strips on my tires!!! lol But what the deal is when I learned the VFR I was able to really get back on the gas sooner on tight twistys...But with the Monster you can get back to the gas as soon as you’d like for fear of swapping the front end for the back...lol I will miss my factory hard bags for sure. I have to see what I can find for this bike. One thing I have to say is with this big a in line 4 you can chug around all day at 2000 rpms and twist the gas n go without down shifting....
