I have thought about getting some Avon's before, but I went with the Continental Road Attacks....I love them so far. I know this is no help, but I just felt like saying that....

Hi V4, I personally don't have them "yet" but a friend has them on his FJ1200 and he really likes them. He said they wear well and have great wet weather characteristics. I will get a set when my Bridgestones wear out.

try them....I had a set on the fjr13 i had this summer..they lasted 9000miles on that big tank. And they worked great, specially in the wet...the front is still nearly 50%..been a long time (older bikes) since i had the fronts last any longer.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but is there suppose to be some sort of a cover on the rear wheel to cover up the little hole in the center of the hub (between the wheel-nuts)?? It looks like there might be one but I'm not sure...

not on the side without the swingarm, but there is supposed to be on the side with the sprocket. I know cause I just noticed mine was missing the other day. It's about a $6 part from servicehonda if you are missing that cap...

Hey I have had the lousy stock Bridgestone tyres, Michelin Pilot Powers tyres, Avon Storm ST and Dunlop RoadSmart tyres on my 5th Gen VFR (currently running the Dunlop RoadSmart tyres). I did not like the Michelin Pilot Powers because I kept getting flats with them. I got the Avon Storm ST tyres and they were and are still great tires (they have a road hazzard warranty that is for real). I switched over to the Dunlop Roadsmart tyres and like them the best. The Dunlop RoadSmart tyres have excellent feedback from the front and have the flatest profile. The Dunlops tyres provide such a comfortable ride and they seem to warm up a little quicker than the Avon tyres. Both the Avon and Dunlop tyres have great wet weather performance. I would definately go with the Avon Storm ST tyres or the Dunlop RoadSmart tyres. Works for me

Dunlop tires are also the only motorcycle tires made in the USA. For someone like me who has lost his job due to outsourcing that means alot. We all say "when the economy rebounds" but what are you doing to help it?

I just ordered and received a set of Bridgestone BT016 tires. If I had known about the US made Dunlops, I likely would have ordered them instead. Next time I'll do better research before I buy, but it's getting harder and harder to "buy American" with so many products being made elsewhere. But, thanks for the reminder!

I am sorry about your job loss.I am on the edge now.I expect everyday to be told "clean your locker"
On tires is there a significant price difference between Dunlop and Avon?
    Thanks

    Knife,
I have been emailing/calling the companies of products I want to buy and asking them. If nothing else it lets them know people want to buy a WELL MADE American product. After I buy something I try to send one more email telling them I purchased their product based on place of manufacture and quality of product, it usually takes less than 10 minutes total. All I can do is try.

    Rubo,
The avons and the dunlops are within $10 of each other. From what I am gathering they are comparable in performance with the dunlop possibly having a slight lead.

My reasons for dissatisfaction with Avon Storms is as follows:
This is experience from two sets.
They square off within 2,300 miles (a lot of that was motor way miles)
When new they make the bike do a slight weave when going slow (not just my experience several others have said the same this side of the pond)
They slow the stearing down and generally make the bike feel slightly clumsy, this could be because the rear tyre is slightly oversized compared to other makes.
The only thing in their favour that I have found, is they seem to grip well on wet roads.
I intend to use Dunlop road smarts next time.
