Hey, I have disassembled the forks for a 1984 vf500c. New dust and oil seals are ready to go on. New slider and guide bushings were also ordered from a dealer, the guide bushings arrived quickly but, surprise surprise the slider bushings are out of stock and will never be restocked. Where can I find some DU bushings or oem bushings? (38OD x 35ID x 20H) They are steel with brass or bronze on the inside and are teflon coated on the outside.

    unavailable slider bush part #51415-mc5-013
    guide bush #51414-mn4-003

My father is rebuilding 1982 vf750c carburetors and noticed that the main jet emulsion tubes are perforated differently for the front and rear cylinders probably because of the angle of the floats. One set has holes a couple millimeters lower than the other set. So, which is which? Low holes for the back cylinders or the fronts, what would this do anyways?

    thanks...

It looks like babbittsonline.com has the part you're looking for, but they have a different part number for it. Might want to check them out! I just ordered a bunch of small parts that I need from them today!

I never noticed this on my VF500F, but I didn't pay that much attention, either! It is probably because the fronts are downdraft, and the rears are sidedraft. Same answer I read earlier on why the jets are different on some v-fours, which I had forgotten about!

Yes, the new # is 51415-mj8-003. We have tried ordering them from cyclepartswarehouse.com, they were listed as if they were in stock but, they were all out.

I think the 500's have the same main jet "holders" for front and back. The vf750c's engine looks like it's angled differently in the frame. The front clyinders are almost parallel maybe 10 degrees to the ground whereas a 500's fronts are about 45 degrees from the ground.

New question, sorry... I was told that the soft plastic carb diaphragms can be removed from the diaphragm piston and new ones can be installed without removing or damaging the hard plastic retaining rings. How?

edit: Honda may have not updated the part # for the 1984 vf500c the correct # is 514115-461-003.

On the emulsion tubes, the tubes with the holes farther away from the main jet install in the rear carbs.
