Without casting an opinion on the qualifications of the new Justice, citing to Wikipedia as a valid reference is not too far removed from citing to The Enquirer, Daily Star, Globe, etc. Wikipedia is not exactly something you want to cite to support any position, conservative, liberal, green....

They all supported it because the liberal politicians supported it, so they thought it was OK to do so. Once the liberal politicians decided to pretend they never supported it in the first place, the liberal media followed suit.

 

Well just fired up the computer to see what was going on with VFR World today and to my surprise seems like we are in the midst of a political firefight. My first observations
of the subject matter and the consequent responses were surprising due to the fact
that we seem to have quite a bit of anger and some sharp disagreement concerning the Supreme Court appoinment and other current events going on in this country.
One thing I do know about Sonia Sotomayor is that she attended High School in NY City
where she was selected to attend a City high school for high acheivers. She graduated
first in her class of approximately five hundred students. I think most of us can discern
that she probably didnt need any help to get into college and she probably could have been accepted to any co-ed Univ. or College in the U.S. Her ethnicity probably didnt
matter because her grades and high school achievements did the talking for her.
What does concern me about the new Justice is will she perform in the court
using the letters of the laws or will she let her heart help to make her decisions.
We could probably say that about any of the justices now serving on the bench. We should wait awhile before we judge her performance. I think if we were all in the Judges'
shoes right now, all of us would want to be judged on our performance not
our race. ed

 

Of course, you're right. I believe the legitimate fear people have is that she will attempt to legislate from the bench, rather than strictly interpret and uphold the Constitution and laws of the land. Once the SC is top heavy with agenda driven "legislators", rather than impartial Justices, anything the congress cannot get through on it's own merits will be enacted through the court. That's a violation of the separation of powers, but is attempted every day in lesser courts. I am not happy she was appointed. But now that she has been, I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and wait and see. Continuing to bitch about a fait accompi accomplishes nothing.
