My newly recovered corbin was a little thicker in the back under the cowl then the stock seat, and after a few weeks it broke the forward tabs off:eek:

So now I must figure out how to glue or epoxy something on in its place....they dont have to be pretty as they are hidden when the cowl is on.

I always wanted a seat cowl, and now I am in 2 up mode :(

Here's some stuff I've been using lately to repair body parts on bikes. This stuff works great and the repair is just like it was originally. Saved myself some $$$.

You might try epoxying a metal strip under the cowl that hangs down on either side and has holes for securing it. If there is that much stress on whole plastic, there will be more on repaired plastic.

Shave off the excess material on the seat too, or you will be doing the repair over and over...

I used a marine grade epoxy putty that I bought at Lowes when I broke the rear tab. It cost around 5 bucks and has worked great.

Possible to use what ever to make new tabs, but longer? Would that work?

I found a couple of strips of flexible platstic at Home Depot and epoxyed them on. Just ground the excess plastic off the cowl the ground them to size. Worked great.

I did the same, although it was my back tab that snapped off (I also have the Corbin - coincidence?).

Before I epoxied the new tab on, I actually cut little "slits" so that I could slide these in between the remaining part on the cowl. Don't know for sure, but assume it allowed the bond to be a little more thorough.

I don't know how you guys even got the cowl on over a Corbin. Mine (1993) wasn't even close to fitting and would have broken for sure had I tried.

    It's not necessarily the Corbin.

That's a common problem on the cowl. I've heard that Honda used to even replace them under warranty.

Mine hasn't been abused at all, and both rear tabs just broke. I have a stock seat.
