how did we go from health care to a black-white issue with a cop??

I heard president Obama tell his future on healthcare plan. :crazy:eek:kay the the last question was about his friend breaking into his own house nieghbors called police? for break in, then gets arrested for vulgartity?? What really happened? cops just don't arrest for no reason. It looks as thought the race issue will never die in America even though we have a "black" president??? Then the worst thing of all is the POTUS comments on this issue worldwide viewings and degrades the police for doing their job trying to prevent a break-in.. Do you really think the cops knew who he was?? (gates) who would not show his ID..WTF !!!Now just showing his true ignorance as a president to get into domestic dispute is not his job. then obama keeps bringing up race issues in society??WTF if that was true you would not be pres mr obama...once again it seems as though the white cop gets stabbed in the back for doing their job.. Its just unfair.. Then MR gates is on a rampage whats next obama pass a law that white cops can not aRREST black criminals??? <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< AMERICA WAS HERE>>>>>>>>>>>>Then after i hear all this on the news guess what they advertise?????being black in America... what about being white in america? being yellow in america? being brown in america..we are going backwards into the 60's unbelievable.....

before I pass"judgement" on either party I would want to read the reports about what happened... fithe guy "broke " into his own house and the police are called by a third party...well they show up go into the residence "detain" anyone in the houseuntil identifications are provided. then apologies are given for the intrusion and you go on about your business.....Thats how it should go....but people get "uppity " about things and shit goes downhill from there...I still want to read the reports...

Didn't know we had politics on here... Fast way to start a flame war and really degrade this site...

Deepdish, I understand you are ranting, but your post has several inaccuracies. But, since this isn't a political forum, I'm gonna end it there.

    Thanks for playing.

I do love the comment from the officer today however.
    It's on Fox News.com.

From the reports I read, the officer was justified in questioning him as to what his name was and if he lived there. The problem I have with it, is even AFTER the cop had this information, he proceeded to act on a "power trip" and arrest the man because the man was getting upset with him. Cops always try an say "I was afraid there was gonna be a riot" or "I was afriad for my life." What a line of BS. There was no danger. The cop was on a power trip, that is all.

The cop was too proud to just back down (once he knew it was his house) and leave. He has to try and be the tough guy and exert his power over a civilian. The fact that he said he will not apologize makes it even worse. What a hoser!

No, I am not a cop hater. They have very hard jobs and are put in difficult circumstances, but this guy was just being a dick, plain and simple.

Yeah, that is a nice formal police report that the lawyers typed up for him and had him copy down. Nice.

OK... :soapbox:I mean here's the thing; after all was said and done, the cop eventually knew it was the guy's house. Now, I didn't know there were laws against "vulgarity" or even "acting an ass" in MY OWN HOUSE! (If that's the case, I'm in deep doodoo...)

Frankly, the cop never even tried to say he was in danger, just that the guy was belligerent. GUESS WHAT? Fruck with me in MY OWN HOUSE and I'm gonna be the BIGGEST, MEANEST, NASTIEST ASS you can imagine; and by the way, I have fought and bleed and my kids continue to fight for those rights, so I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO, in my own home...

So, like was said, once it was all clear, he shoulda been a professional and said "Sorry for the miss understanding, we'll be on our way." NO MATTER HOW BIG AN ASS that guy was being, because NO LAW was broken.

I was a professional soldier, and there is a code of conduct. Just because he has authority of any kind, doesn't make him right; in fact, he has a higher standard to uphold, and thus should have been a professional, but wasn't.

Very well said. That is my point. Nothing about all cops, just this cop was too proud to just walk away. He knows that there was no danger, he just wanted to show this guy that he could "one up" him is all. As echo said, I can be the biggest loud mouth in the world in my house and on my property.

I thought the original post was stating the fact that the PRES shouldn't be mouthing off about this 'little' issue that happened with his 'friend'.
Doesn't he have bigger issues to deal with than this one altercation being the professor and a cop?

WAIT A MINUTE; lets keep the facts straight. HE WAS ASKED THE QUESTION. This is causing all kinds of grief and taking all the spotlight away from his Healthcare reform; you honestly think he WANTED that in some way?

He was asked a question, then honestly said "First let me say, he is a friend, so I am biased". At least he was straight with America; I bet he was wishing he wasn't now though. Because instead of helping move his Healthcare initiative along, this is gonna be all we hear about until next week...

So, because he was honest, and said what he felt, EVEN THOUGH he clearly said he was biased; all Hell's breaking loose. Lesson learned I'm sure, so now we'll get more "political" answers, and never know what he really feels WHEN ASKED A QUESTION. Because of $hit like this. Great.

Except he was arrested for what he was doing OUTSIDE of his house. It wasn't a problem until he went OUTSIDE.

Obama should have been smarter and said he didn't have anything to say regarding the situation. Instead he pulled a little CYA move that no one cares about and then made some pretty imprudent remarks. Should we expect anything less when he goes off script?

Yes, Obama should have side-stepped the question, but as was stated, he said that he was his friend and his opinion was biased.

It was still his property. The cop was on a power trip in the end, plain and simple. Thinking he was in danger, or a riot was gonna ensue...yeah right. That is :bs: anyway you try to sugarcoat it.

I will say that Gate's could have probably cooled it a bit, but he was upset over being continually questioned after he showed proof that he lived there. This has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with power and authority.

Well from a cops standpoint, this sh!t pisses me off to no end. I'm not going to sit here and say there isn't racial cops out there, there is. But what evidence do we even have that this was racialy motivated? Not even the arrestee has said the officer made any racial comments, made any reference to him being black or anything. He's just playing the race card becasue he's a black man arrested by a white officer. I hate when people throw out the race card.

I've been accused of being racist numerous times, everytime it's been the race card. I was accused of being racist and cited a kid for possession of marijuana because he was hispanic? It couldn't have been because he had drugs? That issue was dropped when the kids dad who was pushing the issue, found out my supervisor was the one who instructed me to cite him, guess what race my supervisor was? Yep, hispanic.

I was accused of a guy for stopping him just because he was black. I stopped him at night, because he had his highbeams on. I couldn't even see the driver, more less what race he was. But that was the first words out of his mouth when I got to the door.

But you know what the difference is? I don't assume every hispanic, african american, native american, indian, etc... are all the same. But so often everyone assumes all cops are racist just because there are a few out there.

The fact is, we wouldn't even be hearing about this if the arrestee was white or the officer was black.
