I just put together my VFR engine/magna chopper and got it running. I've found that the front two cylinders are not firing. I've swapped spark boxes and coils with no luck. The front coil is getting power, but with no oscope I haven't checked to see if it's seeing a firing signal. My assumption is no.

Last thing I'm looking at is the pulse generators. Is there an easy method of testing them? Say looking at the connector can I simply ohm out 1 and 2?

I'm thinking I can hook up my meter with the pulse generators unplugged, grab a signal across two pins? Assuming one's a ground and the other two are the generators. Crank it over a few times and see if there's juice.

EDIT: Pulse generators on the VF500C and VF500F are located on the clutch side, not the stator.

    Thanks, that is helpful.

1984 is the year of the bike and I'm using primary the V30 (500cc) electronics. The pulse generators are also from the V30 engine.

EDIT: Appears I have one spark unit, both blue and yellow firing wires off the coils feed into one black sealed box. I've checked the ground for the box and it's fine. Also swapped out the box and still nothing on the front two cylinders. If I know the pinout of the pulse generators then I would think I could swap them at the connector and then swap the coil firing wirings to see if the front two start to fire again.

Bad ignitor. I was looking at the wrong connectors and made edits to my posts above so there's no confusion when someone searches this post.

I simply swapped ignitors and the front two cylinders started to fire and the rear quit. Dug around my spare parts and found a replacement ignitor, thing now runs on all four cylinders. And holy crap, I thought it was loud when it was running on 2 cylinders, all four is something else.

I got to slap all the wiring back in the basket I built, then take this thing for it's first ride.
