After looking for about a year I just bought a new 2007 VFR and rode it home from Olympia via Highway 12 this past Saturday in excellent weather. Really love the way it rides, sounds and looks... Looking forward to searching the site for mods and ideas.

I looked at both the Blue White and Red 2007 and the Red and liked them both. Here is a pic of both my bikes so you can see the choice was 2 bikes same color or the Red. I wanted to take both of them home...

I picked up a Cortech magnetic tank bag. Is it supposed to come with a strap to attach it to the bike? It seems to have an attachment clip but no strap to put on the bike.

What kind of oil is in the bike new? What type of oil should I use for the first few oil changes?

Rode today in 100 degree weather ( visited my State Farm agent to get the bike insured, $346 for 12 months full coverage). How hot is too hot? At what T on the T gauge should I be concerned?

I'll likely add the Gen Mars , any tips on putting them on? Thanks for any help with this...

The red is nice . There are more oil threads here than users, but I think you are safe with running dino oil for the first few changes at least. There seems to be some disagreement about how soon you can go to synthetic, but that just tells me that it is not a big issue. I switched over at the 2000 mark.

The bike does run hot. I was out today and the fan was on (seems to me it kicks in around 215 degrees) whenever I had to slow for traffic; otherwise, the engine was at 180 to 205 most of the time, and it was in the low 80's today.

    Not sure about the bag.

I am on a 1990 vfr, I am still a newb, so I will let the gurus here help you with the technical advice.

As far as the choice of color goes...

Mine was lime green from the factory, but as soon as I got her home I rattle canned her bright red, and I have never been so happy. I even bought a red helmet to match.

joking, my close friend on here sold me a mint condition red 1990 vfr.

Welcome on here brother, and congrats! Damn fine ride, and good choice!
