was out on my 999 for a early morning ride - short 100 miler with a coffee down the middle. Was on VA647 right outside little washington, came across four buzzards feasting on a dead deer carcass. Buzzards #1 and #2 took flight almost straight up, #4 stayed as he was evidently still hungry, #3 wanted to stay but the 102db termignoni woke him into action... hit the front tire and air conveyor on the bike - no damage. Was doing 70mph, I laid on the tank and prayed for stability... thunk. Buzzard anon.

dont ride near cheap chinese buzzards.

Glad you didn't have any damage done....... FYI.... although you will take measures in the future........ For the rest..... Big bird's aren't the fastest to get off the ground.... When I see them I'll honk and start slowing down..... Learn from the experience of others...... Thx for the info....

Being feathered is a hell of a lot better than being feathered, then tarred. glad to see that it was an ending better than what has been posted around here lately. Keep it on one wheel.

Did you mean an actual buzzard or just a very large bird ??

    Are you ornithologically trained??
Could you tell the difference between a Red-legged buzzard (Buteo rufinus) and a Mountain buzzard (Buteo rufofuscus) or a hawk (Buteo albigula, for example) at 70 mph?

Can you indentify which of the over 28 worldwide buzzard species listed here( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buzzard#In_the_New_World) some endangered, you might have injured ?

Did you offer any necessary first aid assistance to the possibly injured endangered avian whose dinner you noisily interreupted.

After all, one of Honda's earliest mottos was "always preserve nature."

Good thing it was a deer, if they were chowing on a skunk you would've had a 4 bagger. Looking at the picture of one it must have been hard to know at first if you hit a vulture or Nancy Pelosi, thank god it was a vulture.

    Glad you are OK beta!

I almost got a crow in the helmet a couple months ago at similar speeds. I closed my eyes and put my head down and prepared for contact...nothing! Thank God.

So, dude, is this one of those "I cheated death today" threads fraught with symbolism, or did you actually kill a damn buzzard?

    Q. What's the difference between a vulture and Nancy Pelosi?
    A. If you absolutely had to, you could f*ck a vulture.
