I recently purchased a 1998 VFR800FI and I can't secure the lower left side because the spot the left site stay bolts is broken off.

Has anyone had this problem and rectified it?

    Thanks in advance!

Perhaps I should have been more clear. The stay is fine and the side cowl is fine. It is where the stay bolts to the oil pan that is the problem that threaded aluminum tab has been sheered off.

New oil pan or heli-coil, your choice. The pan is going to be around $110. A heli-coil could be as low as $10.

    KC-10 FE out...

The mounting tab cast as part of the oil pan has been sheared off, you can't heli coil what isn't there. You are going to be buying a new oil pan, make sure you buy the gasket and a new oil drain plug sealing washer at the same time. Total cost is going to be around $140.00 including shipping.
