The fuel filter is in-line, If I remember correctly it's before the fuel pump. Just a little clear dohicky with a filter inside. As for what to buy, pretty much any in-line filter that fits.

EDIT: While you have the bike in that state you may want to get some electrical contact cleaner and unplug all the couplings, spray some contact cleaner, insert/remove the connector repeatedly to clean the contacts, then apply some dielectric grease to all of them.

Don't forget to lube the speedo cable too (comes from the front wheel).

    Also, replace that chain!

Make sure to give us some feedback once you get the carbs back. It's always nice to have first-hand accounts for others who are looking into services.

i just took my carbs off, (same bike exactly) and if you want the little rubber rings that go under the carbs, go buy them today. there were ten left in existance, and i bought four of them. (ten bucks each) so jump on that before you miss your chance. (just thought i'd let you know.) and that was at the honda dealer i ordered them from. the aftermarket place may or may not be included in that.

the only fuel filter i've found is above the petcock inside the tank.

there is a fix to the petcock that you can perform which will make it flow better if you'd like. let me know if you want details. (illiminates the vacuum to it. and makes it flow constantly.)

squirel- how much would it cost to send my carbs over and have them done as well? same exact carbs. thanks.

Keep trying, it's worth it. He's a really busy guy with all of the carb work he's doing right now. When you are good at what you do word gets around, and Billy is no exception. I've also got a phone number for him if that would help.

If he's too busy to return messages I imagine the lead time to get carna back is going to be pretty long. It's not like cleaning carbs is rocket science.

I believe he's out enjoying the spring weather. When I contacted him earlier in the year he mentioned that he would be taking a break for the spring and early summer riding season.

On a side note - while you don't need a slide rule to tackle this - I do think a professional rebuild service is well worth the investment. If someone is taking it on themselves, without prior experience, I highly recommend Mike Nixon's book on rebuilding the VF Series carburetors. It's a good read packed with plenty of tech tips.

I bought a set of beatiful looking carbs from Mr. Billy C for $400.00. They looked worth it. I'll tell you that. So I thought they were plug and play. Oh hell no. They were gummed up bad and the jets were drilled out. I tryed to call, email, and even sent letters, but in the end he NEVER responed and I was out $400.00. Oh yea, the set I got from him, number 3 carb housing was cracked. I know other people swear by him, I'm just saying, BE CAREFUL!!
