Show me your bike

I would like to see what everone has done to their older vf's. Im not sure if I want my 500 to be my 1st and last bike, or am I going to move on to a newer bike. My 1985 is stock, althoagh I installed a dent in the tank....Never rust a nuetral light. It was green and it was not in nuetral.

I still love that bike, but sadly it will be gone soon to make way for my 1990 ( selling to a friend ).

 

Here's Mine

I'll see if I did this correctly, 83 VF750F, got it for $400.00. Pretty ugly (mostly all cosmetic), but all stock, and all parts were there. Would take too long to put down what I've done....mostly nickle and dimed me to the tune of about an extra $600.00 to get it back nice again. :thumbsup:

 

I did the same thing, paid 400, and put like $600. or $700 into it. Plastics were all beat, had to do a lot of fiber glassing and painting. plus some tune up work. Runs great though

 

Here's a pic of my old 1984 VF700F Intercepter. F1 exhaust,jet kit,Targa lowers,blue windscreen,black tank bra,black front fairing bra,black with dark blue piping Corbin seat,and a fender eliminator kit. The tank and fairing bra's were removed for this picture. I had the whole bike painted the exact same shade of dark blue like the 1988 VFR750. She sure was a beautiful old machine. :love:

Wow, that is definitely one of the better after market full lower fairings I've seen.

The color came out nice as well. I've kicked around the idea of modes on my VF scoot, but the novelty of having an all stock original got the best of me. Was thinking of getting the 25th anny to park next to it, but I’m getting older now and my wife wants me to get a cruiser. I think I will hang on to this for a while, always wanted one in my teens, now I’m having a blast on it. arty2:

Umm, OK. here's my 85:





F2 wheels, F2 shock, VF1000F 41 MM front forks, braided lines, VF1000r oil pump, few other "odds n' sods".

Remaining VF stuff is either reconditioned or NOS Honda parts.

Paint needs to be redone as that's not the original fairing.

Got a set of VF1000F side covers that are also probably gong on her, along with an 86 vfr750 tank.

SP2 front and rear brakes are in the works. Toying with the idea of putting on a Hindle 4 into 1 I've got hanging in the rafters in the garage with a brushed aluminum muffler.....or I might just use it as a template and make some "Gucci" Ti pipes for it (was my original plan for the Hindle).

Also considering sp2 switch gear....already bought, just need time to fiddle with it.

I also never modify original parts, I buy spares to hack up so a quick return to stock is always possible. Every modified stock piece you see is not an original part, but is 100% Honda.

The original stuff is tucked away on the shelves in my garage....waiting.....

 

god you guys got some baddass first gen interceptors. Mine is leaving me to afford my new interceptor ( believe me if I was rich I would keep em both ). To give credit where credit is due, great white has made his bike into what I wanted to do with mine. nice job on all the gen 1's guys, ride fast and safe. but damn great white I love that bike! No disrepect to any of the other gen 1's on here and when I get lonely andmiss my gen 1 I got this thread saved I can come back and look at some great bikes.

 

im also particularly fond of matts bike, matt was the reason i found and stayed with this forum. talk about commitment and dedication, that thread you started when you built up the 86 made it exciting to work on my own bike.... good job dudes cant wait to see more first gen interceptor pics on here, to me its like looking at swimsuit models or something

Thanks, but it shows in pictures a bit better than it does in real life. Like I said, she needs a complete repaint of the body work, althought he rest has been "down to the frame".

About moving on-

No big, everyone has to sooner or later, in all things in life. They're just machines and they don't last forever. I've lost count of which number this VF is, so many have passed through my hands since my first in 83.

Remember the old saying;

It's not what you ride, but that you ride.....

Keep the rubber down.

Here is my '84. Bought it new for 3700 bucks! Put 30K miles on it and put it under a cover in the garage for almost 10 years. My sons' SV650 purchase a year ago prompted my beginning to ride again. CBR rear shock from DMr (thanks Jamie) to repalce the original. Picked up a Kerker 4-2 exh. system from a VFRW member here and a corbin gunfighter from another. Second pic shows F2 wheels I am in the process of converting to now. Fork rebuild with Sonic springs and Racetech GVE is in process as well. Can't wait to ride with modern radials under foot!

here's my 1987 baby, obtained for FREE... I need some better side views, but you can tell there's custom paint on it (cost me and my bro $60 and a weekend in the garage)... Other than paint and a Yosh Pipe, I think it's all stock... 2nd pic is my 1987 Honda next to a 2007 Suzuki GSXR my bud rides
