I'm ready, willing and able to buy one today if they were here.

Hoping Honda builds it with adjustable seat, pegs, handlebars and windscreen AND standard locking hard bags keyed to the ignition that each hold a size XL full face helmet available from day one. Make mine red please. 1200 V4 would be a great motor and less to insure from State Farm than my GSXR as anything above 1000 cc's costs less according to my agent, because it is not a crotch rocket...

    Just sold my 1150GS.
Now just have to hang onto that cash till the 2010 model arrives!
(keeping my GSXR750 as a back up just in case...)

I hope I can buy one with a toaster, a waffle iron, a TV set and whitewall tires. Are you listening Honda?

    You're not? Oh shit!

I agree. I doubt very much that the fairings spotted recently will be what we see in the showrooms.

I hear what you're saying...some people don't need heated grips, etc if they don't travel much...

And I'll probably keep my bare bones 07 GSXR 750 for when I need to do a little Sunday Morning Ride in the Hill Country, a twisty fix, or to do a track day now and then. Till the VFR arrives I've got a set of soft luggage to travel with. (but hey, I've installed heated grips on my GSXR too...but that's just me I suppose)

But, when you've experienced all the good stuff on your previous bikes, you can appreciate it. Kind of like upgrading from stock shocks to Ohlins...you don't know what you don't know till you know it...

It's difficult not to want it. And a bike is essentially a toy, so why not load it up with the things that make cross country travel that much more safe and enjoyable (without going overboard-and to each his own). YMMV of course.

Well, I guess if you can't buy a new Blackbird in the USA anymore, the vfr1200 might just scratch that itch.

IMO, it's great news. Just about everyone here's been begging Honda to build a 1000cc viffer, and uh, this is 200cc more betterer. I'm sure the fairings from the spy photos won't be what we see in the dealerships, so who knows looks-wise. The last generation was F I N E in the looks department so there's a high standard to maintain. I dig the new exhaust placement too.

I am a little surprised about the shaft drive and I wonder what, if anything, can be inferred from the example of Kawasaki's ZX-14 (chain) & Concours (based on zx-14 but with a shaft drive) besides the usual differences in chain v. shaft characteristics.

I think you got your signals crossed somewhere.

Yes, lots have been asking for a new VFR, myself included. I personally wanted Honda to return the bike to something like the 3rd Gen or 5th Gen looks wise & put in on a diet. In other words, keep it in it's role as the single best sporting street motorcycle money can buy. In my opinion, this is a role the VFR has filled (quite nicely thank you very much) since 1990. Notice I never said race bike, I said a STREET bike. In case you're wondering why I didn't include the 4th or 6th Gens, it is for no other reason than I want & like the charm & personality gear driven cams give the motor, so that counts the 6th Gen out. I never liked the looks of the 4th Gen but there is certainly nothing wrong with the 4th Gen either. I don't want or need any more power out of my bike. If Honda is going to mess with the motor, I would be perfectly happy with 120HP.

Now, I am almost 100% certain NO ONE asked Honda to created a new ST1300 or BMWK1300/C14/FJ1300, etc competitor. For all intents & purposes, this bike replaces the ST, not the VFR. That still gives me hope Honda might have something up it's sleeves. Given Honda's current policy of being perfectly happy with being a runner up in just about every bike catagory made, I have doubts. Simply put, the VFR doesn't make Honda any money in the USofA so they really have no incentive to put any resources into the bike. Quite unfortunately, this is due to the fact the average US motorcycle buyer is a complete idiot. I do not include VFR owners in this statement.

Why do I think the average bike buyer in the USofA is a complete idiot? Simple, the average bike owner in the USofA wants a HD or the fastest, bestest, powerfullest, coolest chick-magnet race replica money can buy. I don't even know where to begin to explain why those two choices suck. The average HD owner is a sheep that needs a herd to validate his/her pathetic life & to feel as if he's a "bad ass" even though he's a dental hygenist. The average sport bike buyer wants whatever his buddies say he wants or whatever bike won the latest comparo in any number of magazines so he can score chicks.

    Sad, oh so sad...

hmm..will have to see the real thing first,in real paint I hope, and I will have to sit on it! If it has the exact same ergos and wind management as my old ones and lighter I will be interested as buying again next year..Shaft drive will be great thanks and no more money wasted on chains, And Hopefully no useless technology this time around, just what works. Although hoping for technology to improve mileage so its a good as their cars! That is way overdue. And please keep it lighter and not a fat tanker in league with the fjr13 I had!

    time will tell......:)

I dunno if it's the water here in Germany or what, but when I see those front end spy shots, somehow the Victory Vision pops into my head, I think it has something to do with that unique headlight. It definitely does stand out. I'll be totally honest here, when the new CBR 1000RR first came out, I didn't care for it at all, now I quite like it. We'll see if the same happens with this, I'm doing my best to be cautiously optimistic...

Know any fat chicks with heated grips? TIA.

Press leaks are orchestrated. About every other bike page on the net had the "story".

I know one thing. If I buy one I won't be riding it anywhere near ol' KC until he gets over his latest snit. LOL

THAT'S what I was thinking of. I couldn't put my finger on it until I saw it in writing. That is exactly what it looks like, the front of the Victory.

1200cc, Shaft drive, Hideous exhaust, Bulbous Victory Vision lookalike front fairing, probably weighs 600lbs... Id say its only saving grace would be it will probably be able to cruise at 130mph in comfort. Not my bag of chips, Ill stick with my second gen.

" I love the smell of BS in the morning. It used to smell like Victory but lately it smells just like a leaked press release."

I doubt it's going to weigh 600 but who knows with Honda. They put the RR's on a diet. The K1300S is 502 dry, 560 wet, 175 hp/100 ft lbs. I'd be really surprised if Honda wasn't planning to beat those numbers at least by a little, including price for sure. We'll see when it arrives. I'm liking it, but I hope they come out with a VFR version in a year or two. But with this motor, 2 cylinder deactivation, do you really want that as the basis for a new VFR?

Someone at STN tried a few different colors.

In the initial 6,841 "press leaks" it was implied the bike would be for sale in the fall. Now the question might be, whose fall?

I may not buy one since it doesn't look as if it's going to look like my 1953 Velocette Scrambler and training wheels and a wafflemaker are not included in the package.

One might also ask why Honda thinks even though they make the bike anyone would wait around until Friday make decisions as to whether this bike is any good.
