Anybody use S100 for cleaning their VFR? Any issues?

I just bought a bottle and tried it. Worked great for getting the bug guts off the front and the hard to reach places.

Just curious to see how many of you all use it.

I've used it mostly for engines, brake calipers, wheel hubs and stuff that is hard to get to on the non-faired bikes. It works really well, especially in between cooling fins.

OBSERVE Caution: Some of those high-end cleaners can and WILL live nasty spots on alloy parts if not washed off quickly and thoroughly. Wash when bike is cool.

I still have spots from S100 on my '86 RWB 700 frame and swingarm from 5 years ago when i got a phone call in the middle of a wash.......

That's right. That's why the directions say never use on a hot engine/surface or leave dry. Otherwise it works great IMOP. I use it for more than my bike.

motul bike wash is another product that is similar. I use them both interchangeably (one in my barn and one at the house) and cant tell the diff. a toothbrush after letting it sit for 5-10 mins works miracles on crud-chunx

I have heard it is good on the helmet too, just got it today will give it a try.

RWB25 I work at a Honda dealership and we just became a Powerhouse dealer so I got the parts guy to order me in some. I think it came from Motovan so any dealer that has an account with them should be able to get it in.

For all those that thought it was about $100 you ain't getting it from me :)

In my experience, bugs seem to be more or less water soluble.
That it should be warm seems to help, and I like to have some dish detergent in there.

As to clay: it's one of many mild abrasives made available to shine things; I used a finishing compound (given to me by a car collector to buff the tank) to buff brutal scars out on a DVD, and after that I'm more afraid of working my way through the clear coat on my paint job than I was before. From now on it's for repairing media.

    Wax on...

Dish Detergent will Strip Wax. It should only be used to prep the paint if you are Claying, Polishing and applying a new coat of Wax or Sealant.

Honda paint is very soft so Compound can remove some of the Clear Coat. Be careful. I think that if you are doing this by hand you will be fine as you probably are not breaking down the product enough to burn through the Clear.

Oh and yes Bugs are water soluble. Warm water with a good Microfiber will take care of them. There are also good products on the market for removing bugs that actually eat away at the proteins in the bugs here is a link to such a product that I use for bugs and also as a pre-rinse for road salt in the winter poorboysworld.com

I use it (as directed, no hot bike/no direct sun) and love it. I only use it when filthy nasty however... for a nice wipe down and to seriously protect your body work and windshield, i use only PLEXUS...

    Introducing Plexus Plastic Cleaner

amazing stuff. spray on, wipe off, shines, cleans, protects extremely well, use it exclusively on my helmet and lenses,
designed for sport aircraft canopies (Lexan?) i think, and man, this stuff works.
can be found in most towns if you look, and sometimes available in fine boating, automotive and motorcycle stores...
truly the best product out there. I've done 6-7 total bike wipedowns from every can, wipe off with a microfiber towel, and BAM. DONE. worth every penny, $10-12 per can. (probably not for cleaning your seat however :)

    this is of course, IMHO...

I only use it on the greasy grimmy junk on engine parts. I used to use it on wheel and metal and aluminum parts, but if you dont get a good rinse on it, the stuff will eat a hole there. So I avoid using it most of the time now.
