Factory head gaskets are no longer available. I have however seen several places on the net that make custom head gaskets from copper. They seem to be of nice quality. Just do a search on copper head gaskets and you will get several good options. If you have the old gasket I think it would be a help, as they can use it as a pattern.

If you only want the one buy it from Cometic, it will be ~$50. The set on ebay looks the same as this one(<--clicky) but is cheaper. I'm currently working on putting a motor back together and am planning on buying the Parts-n-more set simply because it is cheaper. Do what you want but note that Dave Dodge does not recommend using copper head gaskets on these motors.

Just looked at the kit on the link above, says it's for an 83-85.... did they also have one for an 86, as I didn't see one listed.... If they have one for an 86 would love to get a set just in case I ever have to replace the head gaskets.

next blow-up won't be as easy to fix.......

you're throwing money into a project that may disappoint you ( and cost more than the bike is worth) somewhere down the road.

According to discounthondaparts.com the 86 and 85 VF500 share the same head gasket part number (12251-mj8-306) and it is the same for both front and rear head.

AFAIK there never was an '83 VF500F so...I'm going to go with that being a typo or someone screwed up. Either way the head gaskets were the same for all years.
