I scored a California edition 700F for $200 (not running for 10+ yrs). After doing a compression check I'm going to make her run!

Right now I have the carbs off and I figure being a CA bike she's probably on the lean side.

Has anyone rejetted a CA edition bike?

Also, I plan on removing the evap canisters from the bike. My question is what do I do with the hose going to the carbs? Block it off or vent to atmosphere?

Obviously I'm gonna clean the carbs and I have new boots ordered...

i believe that you need to block off the loose hose going to the carbs. i did the evap removal on my bike, and i block off the hose except it went to the throttle body assembly instead of carbs. if you dont block it off you will have a small vacuumm leak. on my bike it would just raise the idle about a hundred or two RPMs, but im sure that it would reek havok on a carbed bike.

Thanks for the info. It's an '84. So I guess I'll block it off...

I'm still a ways off though. Tonight is valve adjustments and and hopefully this weekend is carb cleaning.

At some point I'm going to sync the carbs... I wonder if block of will still allow a decent idle.

though they were hydrolic did not need valve adjustment????I would leave the hoses as is and if its lean then raise needle and go up in main...

Removed the canisters next to the head light and plugged the four tubes running into the carbs. She's running great!

Ghost, I've read a bunch of your posts... you work at Haw River?

Yeah, Indian Lake is a nice place. So far Bellefontaine has been a great place too.

I moved here from Phoenix 2 years ago... quite an adjustment!

Small world indeed. I'm up in Fort Wayne, not that far from you. I think you'll find the midwest to be a pretty decent place to live. Many of the folks who move out west end up back after a couple of years, for whatever that's worth.

Hopefully we can meet up for a ride!
