Hey guys, need some advice. I ordered a Bridgestone Battleax 120/70ZR17 from Motorcycle Superstore last week. Today arrives a 120/70ZR17M, which is the O.E. tire for a GSX-R600. My current front, a Conti Road Attack, served me very well but is now shot and if I can't use the tire they sent me I'm going to miss out on a good ride.

So, use it or demand a replacement from MS?

    Thanks!

Its been a 4 days; I'm sure you've made your decision already...I would have sent it back if I had time. If not, that tire would have been or will be fine as a replacement. Some front to rear compounds don't like each other. I have run a front Mez 206 with a rear Dunlop Roadsmart. All I noticed was better traction from the (new) rear tire. Sorry no one answered in a more timely fashion. I cant imagine that the compound for the Gixxer is that much different than the CBR or YZR--on a street tire. I probably wouldn't mix a radial with a bias tire...

Yep, I installed it this morning in order to get it a bit scrubbed in for the ride tomorrow. Of course, rain promptly set in so I couldn't ride on it today. I plan on posting back here as soon as I get a feel for the tire, for posterity sake...

Oh, and it's paired up with a Bridgestone BT-021 back tire so I think they'll work well together.

    Good riding!

Even though you already installed it, I'd still send a note to where you ordered it and let them know you are disappointed that you didn't get what you ordered. Maybe they'll at least give you a break on your next order. If not, I'd not order from them again.

    AFTER ACTION REPORT:

I've put 350 miles on the tire, and under a host of different conditions it's worked great. If there is any degradation of performance, I can't detect it.

I suppose the other test is endurance - I'll report on that as soon as I wear it out...

The OEM version BT016 is not the same as the aftermarket offer ones, the OEM BT016 with letter code on the end has different compounds. For example, the rear has 3 compounds while oem one is 2. OEM fronts are single compound and aftermarket offered ones are dual. Either way the aftermarket ones are stickier and better composed tire then the OEM offerred replacements. The OEM ones are made cheaper to satisfy OEM bike manufacturer's budget requirements.
