During my recent trip to California my mileage to and from was wet, and mileage while there was fast. Does that work for you Jason?

    Hey Gang,
Bike's been in storage all winter and I am just now thinking of taking it off the battery minder and getting it ready for summer. I had posted it for sale here in VFR World, but no responses. If anyone is interested let me know as it is in near perfect condition with all kinds of extras. Hate to even consider a sale, especially now that riding season is here, but you know the drill, "baby needs a new pair of shoes" so if anyone is looking, let me know.
Oh, milage. The last trip before I put it away I got 42 mpg.
    Thanks
    Viker

I dont get the obsession with fuel mileage - thats a thing that doesnt even make the list of stuff I care about for a motorcycle. To know good enuff is good enuff. If the tank is big enuff to make it between fuel stops, I'm good to go!

MD I can appreciate that tracking mileage is not for everyone and clearly not you but I'm sure that most of us in this thread care about it so...

    MD,

I don't think that anyone here is really that concerned with their mileage, more just a matter if curiosity. I am sort of like you. Haven't a figgen clue what mine is cause it changes so drastically with the change in driving habits. But then mine should be consistent cause like I posted in another thread, I don't speed.

    Am I under oath here?

    Hey There,
yes you are proobably correct in your statement regarding milage as it certainly wasn't even a consideration for me when I got my bike. Looks, performance and feedback were all much mmore important then what the milage actually was. But I tend to agree that it is of interest as there seems to be a range fairly wide as to what some folks are getting.
maybe they don't know there is a 6th gear??
    have fun

WTF. I didn't know there was a 2nd 3rd, 4th or 5th. I can hammer my gear lever down hard all I want and just get one gear.

Just rode my new 07 25th home January and first tank got 32. Broke it in and after the first service saw 36-38. Just rode to California and back to northern Illinois and was 40-45 now the parts have seated. Didn't lose much mileage at altitude but did lose some poke. Lost the most mileage with the high ethanol (Iowa) gas taking up more tank room. Bet most of the high milers ain't in corn country.

my first tank on the "new to me" 04 was 39.1913
    145.4mi / 3.71gal

if i drive 2 tanks worth a month vs my truck i save enough to pay for the insurance.
sorta miss the 52+ i got on my cbr600. but i dont miss the insurance payments either.
hard to justify 1200 vs 240.

    2nd tank 177.1 / 4.183 - 42.3380mpg

Well my sig has my Fuelly badge on it..!

My riding: Mix of commute & pleasure riding. Going to/from work is downtown city to a 2-lane road to a backed up highway to HOV to my home community. Weekends I look for twisties or just loop the beltway.

Take out my SLRF tank & I'm averaging 40.9 MPG. Given the fact that I commute I'm kind of interested in this (hence my Fuelly badge!)

My average is usually 38-41 MPG. K&N filter, otherwise stock. I notice that I get better mileage with the bags off, my best was in the 47-48 MPG range. That was 200+ miles of straight, boring highway without the bags on, I did 238 miles and put in 4.9ish gallons.

Funny you mentioned the high ethanol fuel. I can get no ethanol added fuel here in Florida and I get 5mpg more than the 10% ethanol added mix. Makes you wonder if this joke of thinning the fuel is really worth it! I ride everyday so I know my range, I thought my gauge was broken when I first used the no alcohol fuel. Thank you EPA and of course the Department of Agriculture.

I spent last weekend riding about 350 miles with saddlebags at ludacris speed and got about 40-41 mpg. Not bad. In two weeks, I will be doing a 1,400 mile loop with saddlebags, trunk, tank bag, soft saddlebags AND my wife. MPG will start to matter when the rest stops become few and far between.
