I'm going to second the tightening of the throttle cables. I did the PCIII and O2 resistors on mine and it vastly improved everything except for the on/off throttle snatch. I then tightened the throttle cables so there's just a hint of slack left and that took care of this final issue.

Is there a "how to" for this. im sure its pretty simple but would hate to mess with something this important without a little prior knowledge.

I disagree with the above post that the motorcycle while running goes in and out of closed loop- the fuel injection on a motorcycle is the same as early auto fuel injection and basically it runs open loop until the o2 sensors are warmed enough to provide reliable data at which time it goes into closed loop and stays there until the key cycles or there is some type of problem with a sensor that would deny accurate data to the ECM about the engine's operating conditions- the ECM is more than capable of modulating injector pulse width for all of the intended operating conditions from cold start, to idle to redline, and anything in between. He is right about how disabling the o2 sensor leaves it in open loop for increased fuel consumption and emissions though.

"In 2000, Honda updated the fifth generation VFR (RC46) with a catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, and an EFI system that would enter closed-loop mode under highway (cruising) operation."
Basically when the throttle is held in a steady position it enters closed loop, and when you apply more throttle it goes into open loop again.

Not sure if the Gen 5 Mk2 is worse but my '99 Gen5 Mk 1 has none of that melarky and perfect FI fueling, even though technically inferior it certainly has much better fueling standard than my previous '03 build Gen 6 did.
