I've got this nifty new battery for my 700 project, but it can't be charged at more than 14.4-14.5v.

Can someone please tell me what the charge rate typically is on their 86-89 VFR 700/750 at ~5000rpm?

    Thanks!

If it is higher than 14.4-14.5v, I'll have to rig up some kind of secondary regulator in line with the original! :ninja:

13.5 to 14v should be about average normal charge.....

    Can I get a confirmation?

I will probably start running the bike with a regular battery and a voltmeter anyway, to be 100% certain. I really don't want to fry these lithium iron phosphate cells!

Thanks a bunch. I have an 8 cell pack wired up 4s2p, it's about the size of a can of soda and weighs maybe 1.5lbs.

    Anyone else?

I'm overthinking it, because at the moment I have quite a bit of money tied up in this experimental battery, and the bike I am building is not in running order right now.

I've made a battery from 8 lithium iron phosphate cells taken from a DeWalt 36v battery pack, and have them assembled in a 4s2p configuration. If they get charged at more than 14.5v, I risk frying them and tossing my money out the window.

So, if I could get a handful more people to chime in with some more data, that would be great! Never a bad idea to check your bike and see what the charging system is up to anyway!
