My Wife is in the market for a different bike. She's pretty much outgrown the Hawk GT. She's commentet: "A VFR ONE SIZE SMALLER would be perfect for me". With this is mind, 3rd Gen's have always had a special place in my heart so I would not hesitate slightly to get one. I checked the specs page here on VFRWorld & it lists the 3rd gen over the 500lb mark. Is this really true? It seems the 3rd gen is quite a bit smaller than the 5th Gen which run 520lbs wet.

Anyone put their 3rd Gen on a scale?

    I figure a 3rd and a 4th are damn near identical in size. I had a 4th and my
5th at the same time for a while. For some reason or other the 4th felt a tick smaller than my 5th. Even though when I took a tape measure to it - seat to pegs, seat to bars, bars to pegs, they were very close. The only noticeable thing is the lower 4th bars.

Yep some where on here I asked folks to actually weigh their bike at the scales then subtract your weight, if I recall most 3rd gen's are right around that 505-510 mark which is pretty darn close to a 4th, mines 505 with half a tank, yep they are just fractions smaller here and there over the 5th and more so to a 6th.

"One size smaller" would be a 400.

Kris says hers "feels lighter" to her than the gen6. She handles the bike well & can move it around in a parking lot prety good. Alot better than her 06 shadow vlx ( her last bike before back sergery. I was able to dump some weight by swaping out w the R6 race tail, loss of passenger pegs fiberglass & cutting away unneeded steel from the frame extention. I do want to put it on a scale but not sure where to get it done

i think a lot of it has to do with the stock undertail exhaust. if you have ever rode open header... manoeuvring it at parking lot speeds... it feels like a whole nother bike.

I guess I should have been more precise, I did look up the specs. I just want to know if anyone actually has had their 3rd Gen on a scale?

Like I said, it just seems to me the 3rd Gen is smaller than the 5th Gen. If they weigh in at the 510lb mark, that's only 10lb less than my bike.

I put my 4th gen on a scale the other day, it has a Micron slip on but it otherwise stock. It weighs right in at 500 lbs with a gallon or 2 of gas. Also a 50/50 weight distribution.

I have a 6th Gen and a 3rd Gen and I can tell you that the 3rd Gen feels much lighter and much more maneuverable. After riding "Pearl" for a few hours I feel like I am climbing aboard a tank when I get on the 6th Gen.

    Regards,
