i say get as much swine flu as you can, that way they turn on each other.

 

I'm leaving for mexico right now to put a stop to all this shit once and for all. And when I'm done Somalia is next. Who wants to go with me? Oh and we will be stopping in venezuela on the way back to clean up that nonsense too. Cmon let's go get this over with

Its a bunch of Shit!! The bird flu was going to kill millions and millions, SARS was going to do the same Now its the pig flu thats gonna kill everyone... Funny how the same news reporters don't talk about the normal everyday flu that kills Thousands of people every year. I guess that flu doesn't get any ratings!!! Me, i'm more afraid of stubbing my little toe on the corner of the bed at night !!!

 

SARS was a pretty big deal... but maybe it's just me. I was in China for two weeks in March/April of 2003. A guy died from it in Beijing the night I arrived there. However, most of the cases were in the southern provinces and I never made it farther south that the city of Xian.

Same deal with the masks everywhere.(I remember returning to school the day after the trip and wearing the surgical masks with everyone who went on the trip just to freak out the other students lol. (Am I a terrible person? lol) I also got a black eye from a car accident the night I got back from China and the next day had my English teacher(who loved to fool around and tease us) to believe that I had spent 3 days in a Chinese prison for taking pictures of the soldiers in China.(not too far from the truth actually lol)

Actually, the airport in Tokyo was the most ridiculous. Just like they are the most persevering about swine flu right now(monitoring the body temps of offloading passengers and everything). It was like walking through a hospital or a movie set where's there's a zombie thing or virus epidemic going on. Crazyness.

But does the swine flu have me worried? Not at all. Will I wash my hands more? Religiously. lol.

 

OMG THE ALERT IS LEVEL 5 NOW WE ARE GOING TO DIEEEEEE.

That's it, I am packing up and heading to the hills... time to live off the land! Who's with me? :lol:

Speaking for a moment as a physician, I'm a bit troubled by the apparent lack of understanding among those here who have little if any knowledge and understanding of infectious diseases, virology in particular.

Newly emerging strains of viruses which are highly pathogenic to humans, and which are rapidly genetically mutating (HIV being a case in point) are among the greatest epidemiological threats to humans. But, unlike HIV, which is transmitted only though blood-borne or sexual contact, potentially deadly new strains of this newly mutated influenza virus (i.e., viruses which specifically attack the lungs) are easily transmitted through such casual interpersonal contact such as coughing, sneezing, unwashed hands, touching contaminated doorknobs, etc.

Among those of you who don't have a clue as to the very real potential dangers to children and adults that this newly mutated and drug-resistant influenza virus poses, it's time for you to wake up and smell the coffee. This new virus is real, it's very bad actor, and it is quickly threatening to become a global pandemic. Indeed, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, on a scale of 1 to 6, with 6 being a worldwide pandemic, the outbreak of this particular strain of influenza is currently at level 4...

 

I am praying for all those folks who bought Harleys that are now infected.

 

And don't these viruses generally get their start in the warehouses where animals are grown by the thousands or tens of thousands, until they've mutated to something that is highly pathogenic to humans? That is my understanding at least.

Egypt just ordered the slaughter of every pig in the country, about 300K. I expect we'll see more of that, even if this isn't being spread through swine.

 

I don't think there is a problem of people realizing its potential, but the way the media sensationalizes everything is a bigger problem. When people panic the outcome is worse than that of those who can react to things with a rational mind.
