Long story short, I dropped my bike, busted the brake lever, windscreen, front fender, upper and lower right fairing. It's a 99 Red VFR. Anyone know where I can get aftermarket plastics for it.....or should I do this route.

$450 for a new fairing alone. Still need the upper and the front fender. That's about another $300. $800 there vs. $500 aftermarket.

Unless someone knows where I can get the upper and the lower?

I only see newer model and 750 fairings. There is a yellow 99 one, but that is all I see.

Well, I guess it sounds like it is worth a shot as a much cheaper alternative to OEM. Word of warning though...I have heard from some folks who bought the hong kong stuff, and it looks good when you get it, but scratches very easily, and is not near the quality/durability of stock panels. That said...."shit or get off the pot brotha!"

It will take me a few weeks to pull all the cash together to do....anything really right now. In the meantime, if you all hear or see the parts I need, can you keep me posted? Much appreciated.

I saw some very cool, old school, CaseyStoner Honda Carrera grphics at nice bikes....but they are $800.00 The Carrera graphics would be pretty exclusive compared to the 10,00 repsol bikes running around.

Shoot I just bought a Repsol body kit of ebay, I think the graphics are real cool. I have a lot of friends that bought Ebay body kits and rode at crazy speeds with no problems.
It sounds like a body panel wasn't secured properly. A lot of guys don't install the parts with the right hardware. I have to buy all new body nuts to install the kit. A loose panel will catch air and rip off the bike at high speeds that can cause a loss of control.

It seems the most critical part is the seam where the side cowls meet the front cowl. If that seam isn't tight it can catch air and become a real problem. It's also important that the inner fairings are well secured with the proper plastic body nuts. I've crashed my bike a few times and rode up to 160mph and never had a problem with panels flying off. And my OEM panels are a patch-work of fiberglass, bondo and ABS. I don't think the aftermarket panels will be a problem as long as they are made of the same material and have the same thinkness as the OEM stuff. My only concern is fit and finish. As far as scratching goes I'll get a body shop to spray a durable clear coat when I get my tank sprayed.

It's all scratches, aside from the windscreen and brake lever. Pretty deep and wide scratches. Be hard to match the exact red. Still up in the air as to what to do. I ordered a new Double Bubble windscreen yesterday, going to get a brake lever right now.

Certain colors are fugitive. Red is among them. Areas on my 91 faded to pink after several years.

Sounds like you have not yet removed the fairing panels to see what damage is done overall. I submit that there are some broken tabs, fastners ect., somewhere. This can cause loose part flying off or at best causing more damage than is there now.

Busted tabs and scratches even gouges that go all the way through can be repaired.

It's your bike and your bucks but IMO, some fixing and a total repaint might be a good thing.

Just a personal note, stock paint jobs are stock paint jobs. I have a good time when somebody asks me if my almost 20 year old VFR is new. Same deal on two other bikes that are 30 years old. (78 Yamaha SR500/ 79 BMW R100RS Mit Krauser)

Ya might check Troy Lee Designs or Tapeworks for that Honda Racing sticker.
