I'm getting there. I compiled a couple more last night but didn't get to upload them to the server. I'll let you know when I have them ready.

Wow! I missed this whole thread...tell me to stay connected to VFRWorld a little more frequently than I have.

KC-10. I agree. I noted this to Two4One right after this run. Yes I miss queued in this corner for sure. One reason for that is that I slowed down drastically when I saw the camera truck and kind of unsettled me for the whole corner. But overall I do have an issue running to close to the yellow knee down or not. It's something I've been concentrating on for quite some time. I think it is a hold over from running on the track and cutting the apex close, gotta get it fixed soon.

As for the question on braking beyond the apex, I always cover the brake...so I was on the gas and may have been still slighty on the brake due to the way I cover the brake, hence the brake light. Doesn't necessarily mean I was on the brakes hard, cause I wasn't, I was lifting off of them slowly. I always go progressively on the brake when trail braking as I progressively go off throttle and when exiting the corner I do the reverse. It works well for me and it is something I learned through the books I've read on sport riding.

Overall the trip was awesome...we covered 1200 miles in 4 days. Lots of good roads. I'd recommend it for sure. And don't just ride the dragon, there are many other good roads in the area. Two4one's videos note a number of them.

Like I said, no offense intended.

Anyway, I know what you mean about seeing the camera. Everytime I ride by KillBoy, all I think about is making sure I look good & am riding in correct form/posture for the camera. This is surely not the smartest thing I could be doing at the time.

If you are concentrating that hard on avoiding the middle line, that's probably the reason you're hitting it. Target fixation doesn't always mean the target you SEE, it can be the target you THINK about.

If you are in the habit of riding with the brake covered, it's a habit you probably want to break. I have no clue what the elapsed time it takes to apply the brakes. I do know with your hand resting on the handle, you can get yourself in lots of trouble. The fraction of second it takes to reach for the brake can be enough time to think about what you're about to do & possibly come to the conclusion that panic braking is not in your best interests. From what you've described, your cornering techniques sound good so it should be very easy for you to keep your hand on the grip.

    KC-10 FE out...

You are not that far from some very exciting roads in Arkansas. Get your map out and check Arkansas Hiway 123, 341, and of course the Pig Trail 23. PM H.C.D., TravellingViffer or myself to get a guided tour through the Ozark Dragon. It's not Deal's Gap, but it's darn close.

Just checked out the link for videos and I see there's new videos of 129. But the 1st one, "129 Cop Pass Part 1" gives me a 404 error. The 2nd one works though, looks cool!

Hmm, I'll have a look at it sorry about that.

I guess I should explain the naming convention. Three of us came around a hard left-hander, knees on the ground when a cop came around the corner from the other direction. We all thought we were dead to rights but he never came after us. He came to a complete stop after seeing us but never persued.

Funny thing is, every car we saw for the next hour or so looked like a cop...and some were! All of us were just waiting for a spike strip or something. Damn hooligans!

Ha ha! That'll get your heart going! The good doctor requires at least 2 hours of cardio every week.

Oh, and to make you feel better, the police can't use spike strips because it endangers the motorcyclist as well as the drivers around. And I bet the cop didn't bother pursuing because let's face it a group of experienced riders in twisties is going to smoke a police cruiser.
